your struggling here douglas, you've become quite manic

Hmmmm, first he's being compared to attacking midfield players and his stats match up well...then Orly says he's been played out wide a lot of the time....and still his stats match up very well. Now your wanting to compare him to all central midfield players and guess what??....his stats match up to the best of them.

With every passing change of attack he's getting better and better in comparison to his contemporaries, best call it a day Walken.

So he's got less goals per game than his contemporaries, and less assists, but he bears good comparison?

Douglas having a bit of a mare

Oh contraire douglas, you seem a bit desperate, constantly changing the goalposts, then blindly making things up, you just a bit desperate here mate

Can't wait until the crap little weapon retires.
That's a bit harsh, past his best I agree, but he has come via the youth system -I could name other players in the squad who sit on the bench not as useful , maybe his last season as an impact player, been a good servant DM only gave him a contract when Derby wanted to sign him - typical of DM as Ossie was at his best not playing on the right wing!

It's plain as day to see who's flip flopping around here Walken, just like a fish on dry land, you're all running out of breath as the life slips out of your every point.

What sort of midfielder is Osman?

Let's look at the facts

1 in 7 goal ratio = so you couldn't really call him a goalscoring midfielder.
1 in 10 assists = so you couldn't really call him creative
At one point the most dribbled past player in the league = so you couldn't really describe him as combative

Look at this

http://www.whoscored.com/Players/5047

Leon Osman's Characteristics
+ Strengths
Long shots
Strong
Holding on to the ball
Strong
Aerial Duels
Strong
Defensive contribution
Strong
- Weaknesses
Finishing
Weak
Crossing
Weak
Tackling
Weak

Leon Osman's Style of Play
  • Indirect set-piece threat
  • Likes to tackle
So he isn't good at finishing, crossing or tackling. So basically 'playing in midfield'.

He's good at long shots apparently... except that according to http://www.statbunker.com/players/getPlayerStats?player_id=4948 he's scored two goals in 399 games beyond 18 yards out

Talk about nullifying your own point and contradicting your supposed evidence.

Nice one Orly I thought you make a better first of it than that to be honest.

your actually starting to worry me here with your metaphors, obviously very keen to distract from the point, I'd say you need to calm yourself and start again, theres nothing wrong with having high standards for players mate

Stats are there Douglas.

Even his perceived strengths are actually weaknesses. How damning that the one positive they thought they could find, he was actually awful at.

@mythbuster will just have to comfort himself with the fact that Osman has the 178th best first touch since Beardsley. He can put that with his FA Cup runners up medal and Best Peter Dinklage Impressionist 2015 trophy.
