Leroy Fer

He did not meet the full standards required to meet the specs. of an EFC medical inspection, to the extent EFC are on the verge of pulling the plug on the move, I would call that failing. He has an underlying problem that was brought up by medical staff as a concern, he failed the medical. I am not just plucking this stuff out of thin air to p*ss people off. It will have to be on our terms now if it is to happen, I would say it's more likely to fall through with that in mind.

So why are Prentice and O'Keeffe saying were still willing to pay the £8.6m fee for him and still want the lad but on different terms?. By the sounds of it, the medical records arent putting us entirely off, just that we have slight concerns of his long term health and want to cover ourselves?!!.

Yeh. Not claiming to be ITK, but, from what I can gather from the conjecture that is out there so far, is that he may have an issue with his knees - nothing atm but potentially serious. Now, I do really want him to sign (whenever I've seen him - i'll admit - no more than 5 or 6 times, he's looked good - and the type of player who would suit our current squad). However, we may have seen this opportunity to haggle on the price slightly. Hopefully this doesn't back-fire on us and we can still sign him. There aren't many better players of his type that are available for 8 mil or under.

But, a problem with his medical isn't failing it.

I agree, I just feel that because it's us that's taking the risk, FC Twente need to compromise as the player and the agent want the move.

The general consensus is that it will be sorted out, but we are as fans cynical, and some of us would of dismissed it already and moved on.
These things happen in transfer negotiations. It's nothing new, but people need to calm down and wait til' tomorrow morning.

A failed medical means that you are unfit to sign for the club you are taking the medical for. If he had failed the medical the club wouldn't still be trying to sign him as the doctor wouldn't have approved him joining the club.

He passed the medical, but underlying issues which could come into play in the future were discovered.

Ok fair enough, re-phrase this to, he has an issue that concerns the club, the payment structure they are now suggesting is akin to a 6 month loan payment initially, we are trying to dictate terms now, with this issue coming to light. This is not Everton's fault and you could hardly blame them for trying to re-examine the structure in which they pay for a player who is not a 100% medical pass. It's just common sense, but gutting all the same if it means we end up not signing him.

@StefanCoerts: Nothing out of the ordinary with #Fer's knee for a player who recently underwent surgery. #EFC seemingly using situation to get better deal.

Still confident #Fer will leave #Twente for #EFC. Bit of fluid in knee won't frustrate the deal in this situation.

It appears everyone at @EFC desperately want this deal to go through but won't do it unless its right!

So what you're saying is if we sign him it WILL be a loan. Because that's what we're asking for and you say we're the ones setting the requirements. Just getting that clear.
