A shame that now that Mirallas is running into some form others are going off the boil.

I notice Delofeu was at the game. What price, in the absence of a genuine CF now, a front 3 of him, Mirallas, and McGeady?

quite simply the difference was sturridge and suarez. have to say sterling and coutinho impressed me today too, havin had pretty awful opinions of them, even objectively.

but the rest of the team...

barry and mccarthy are better than henderson and gerrard (and any other of their combinations), even with our defence as weakened as it was, it should be better than flanagan/skrtel/toure/cissokho... skrtel is the closest to a half decent defender out of that lot

we need a top signing really don't we? it can probably wait til summer but if not then its gonna be tough. need that marquee striker, otherwise its gonna be a huge ask to maintain top 4 challenges

PS: why don't we do in swinging corners. They scored from one. We had 8 corners and didn't look like scoring. What is RM's strategy here because whatever it is, it aint working.

I was screaming at the telly for us to do inswingers! No idea why we persist in outswingers when naff all happens with them.

...and if people think that United aren't coming back big time for a CL spot, they haven't been keeping up with the latest news.

We could've matched the run they'll no doubt get on had we not so many injuries. Not gonna happen now, we've been too weakened. Can't see Spurs faltering much either. Our focus should be on the FA Cup now as a gateway to Europe.

With a 5-0 win over Spurs and a 4-0 win over us, it is hard to argue against Liverpool's claim to be the 4th (minimum)best side in the EPL.

Liverpool have 2 fantastic strikers. Their strength is both can create havoc on their own. so even when one has bad day they still have the other. When both are on they are devastating

For me 4th is gone but no surprises there.

I'm glad sturridge missed that pen,if that'd gone in the floodgates would've opened further I feel - we're lucky it was only 4-0, honestly I knew it'd be a thumping after 10-15 minutes when we'd given away 6 good chances which just needed Suarez to wrap his foot around, and were let off with those.

It was one of those matches where I could see after about 10 minutes that we could play all day and not score, like palace away. I sent my mate a text around then saying 'it'll be 3 or 4 here, they'll score soon' at 0-0. It was so obvious what was happening

I'm glad I watched it in a pub, I'd have broken things if id been at home. My poor girlfriend had to watch it with me, and actually had to convince me to stay at the pub when it went to 2-0 as I'd decided I'd had enough, called my dad outside when she finished her drink ahead of storming home and he told me it'd gone 3-0. Decided to stay to share the pain with other blues in there, had a meltdown and nearly made a scene at the 4th goal but realised I was in public and just sat there absolutely fuming.

Horrible horrible games. Could take city doing that to us but not them. Hate playing them, dreading the idea of playing them in a cup game (providing we beat Swansea)

Can't believe that's happened and I hate that it's a Tuesday night too

Can't sleep. Can't get over how badly we got battered.

Just horrible.

I have to be up at 7 mate, think i'm just gonna see the night through, power through tomorow and then be tired enough to go to bed at 6 so i dont have to face anyone for another day, I honestly thought i'd outgrown football effecting my moods, but that was painful

Watched that with my two sons one was crying my other one went to bed at half time absolutely shocking that I will be there Saturday with them both but I'm in total shock tonight I feel really let down by some of them players

Got a meeting tomorrow that is generally outside my comfort zone, but no chance of sleeping right now.

Detest Everton at times, bunch of bottlers.

the brief joe royle days aside, bottling it when it counts is all i've known, Kev gives me some hope though, he loves the big occsion, like dunc did, Barkley will be of that ilk too with far greater ability, the rest, even our captain, tonight they looked like moyes men

I know, mate...but try not to stress as we've got a hell of an excuse: the bonkers injuries the squad's been getting is simply taking its toll. The ones who played half of them are not 100% fit or are just knackered, having no replacement able to give them a breather now and then.

We could criticise Martinez for bringing in 2 players who weren't immediately match-fit. McGeady might be approaching full fitness now, but we really could've done with a fit Traore coming on after Lukaku went off. And the defensive high-line was in hindsight an awful tactic, but a full-strength Everton would've countered that by scoring goals in reply. Martinez's biggest mistake tactically was trusting our injury-ravaged side to still be good enough to do that. It was either that or backs-to-the-wall playing for a draw. He gambled and lost. But the blame is not his.

Blame the obscene injury levels, settle for 7th-place and a good go at the FA Cup, and sleep better for it. That's what I'm gonna do.
