I still can't believe we have just been tonked by that lot.. They have a good front 3 or 4, and can finish chances when they get them whereas we can't. Still gutted

Good post sadly. Martinez's rep as a tactician flushed down the toilet over 90 minutes really. Couldn't have got it much more wrong from start to finish.

That said, you'd expect eleven professional footballers to put up a bit more of a fight than the did, regardless of tactics. Mirallas and Barkley aside, we offered nothing. Osman was just less gash than the rest, but gash nevertheless.

Interesting you think Barkley played well and Osman didn't. Purely from the viewpoint of what a midfielder should be all about i saw the opposite. Osman was excellent. His control, his first touch, the weighting of his passing, and the continuous involvement, took the game to the opposition. Barkley on the other hand did a few eye-catching things but for large chunks of the game you wouldn't have known he was on the field. He was much too far up the field and rarely involved. Why was he unable to find the space he exploits best, that between the opposition back four and midfield? How often did he see danger emerging and do what you want your midfielders to do and get back to cut it out? Never.

One thing we never got to grips with tonight was the speed of the surface at Anfield. It's got to be the fastest surface in the Division even when dry, never mind in the rain. The RS, Suarez in particular, are used to it and use it to great advantage. maybe it's one reason for their outstanding home record. We spent hardly any time with the ball in the pre match warm up and repeatedly got caught out by the extra speed of the ball along the surface once the match started.

Don't think Barkley was great by any stretch, only Mirallas would I say was acceptable. Osman was tidy-ish, but he ran the ball straight out for a throw-in at one stage and that stuck in my head.

jesus, the osman fan club don't ever miss a window of opportunity do they, he was okay when he came on, still go muscled off the ball, abd still hit his powderpuff shots, he hardly turned the game around

'he hardly turned the game around'!!! I said he played well, not that he's Lionel Messi!

Its been absolutely clear for the past few weeks what the problem is, we're not playing with the same tempo, everything seems laboured we quite simply dont have the squad depth.

Our first team can beat anyone just its never going to be available throughout the season. Untill we can feild two teams like the chelsea etc we will never break the top four. We can win the cup but thats the limit.

We have f all on our bench to bring on, totally different scenario from when we we're bossing games in the first half of the season.

'Osman was excellent', he wasn't mate, he was okay at a push

Obviously we beg to differ. Maybe we can at least agree that he got more involved than anyone else in the second half and didn't disappear (though you might say 'unfortunately').

Tonight people, we took a knife to a gun fight. All that 'pick up an Uzi' mantra was just blather. We didn't walk the talk and now I will just shut up {loud cheers from all GOT members}.

PS: why don't we do in swinging corners. They scored from one. We had 8 corners and didn't look like scoring. What is RM's strategy here because whatever it is, it aint working.

7. Overall, we have to take the positives; we bossed the game at their place for the first time in years. Unfortunately for us, their pace going forward coupled with our under-strength defence performing badly led to them winning.

Sorry but that 'bossed the game at their place' just rings of WE WON THE PASSING!! to me.

they had a clear set of tactics and ****ted us with them, and prob should of scored more. i was disappointed to see us playin such a high line considerin what they did to spurs
