2020/21 Lucas Digne

The thing that really annoys me about Digne getting sent off is the Son scenario from last year. Son lashed out at Gomes which caused him to get seriously injured. Ref didn't see it so VAR comes in and says to send him off. Then Spurs be a giant bag of cox that they are appeal it and it gets overturned. But with Digne, it's a coming together and VAR says "nothing to overturn here as it's not a clear error"?

tbf I'm not sure VAR was the reason Son went? I think Atkinson saw Gomes' ankle and sent him off (and rightly so).

I can see why Digne went yesterday. I can.

But it was extremely harsh and it's definitely not worthy of a three-match ban.

I am blaming the press as much if not more than Pickford. Either way it's changed the way the world looks at us, just as things had started to go our way.. you can bet a lot of our new positive media attention and worldwide fans have been turned off us after that. I'm not a Pickford hater (although we do need a new keeper) it's unfortunate, but this guy is costing us in more ways than one.

If ‘fans’ are turned off our club because the keeper took out a snide RS in the derby, then I would suggest they never were fans.....

Sky's ref watch shows just how full of it refs actually are.
" I fully accept he didn't mean to do it and he didn't mean to be malicious,"
So surely that rules out serious foul play/violent conduct?

I'm talking about new fans around the world, most following James, like it or not, we need them. However you view the challenge, it has damaged our newly found good name and put us back under pressure.

99% of the pundits and ex pros don't think it was a sending off. That generally sways them.

I hope you are right, but wouldn't be in the least bit surprised if he's out for three games! Were as I have no doubt at all that the snide Robertson last week "did" Allan in the derby in a similar fashion and it wasn't even looked at and wasn't even mentioned after the game!

he put his hands in the air to show he realised he was too close, and then still puts his full weight on his ankle? fraid not old bean.
What on earth are you talking about??

Are you actually suggesting that it was a deliberate stamp down on his ankle at that speed?? Christ alive...

Since it’s introduction I’ve said that VAR should have some form of coach’s challenge. Exactly like in the NFL.
Activating that challenge would force, at the very least, the on pitch Ref to go and look at the monitor.
One challenge per game and you lose it if you are wrong, keep it if the Ref changes his mind.

If the Ref yesterday had all the angles, it may well have been a yellow.

you say that like he wasn't sent off for a straight red card offiince. But i'm afraid he was
What the hell does that even mean? lol if you actually have a point here you're not doing a very good job of presenting it. I asked if you thought it was a deliberate 'stamp' on his ankle and you didn't even answer that....

it's difficult to describe what he did as a stamp, when you are traveliing at that speed but he brought him down with a nasty lunge that was reckless as to the player's safety
