Let down his team mates?

Surely Rafael let down his team dropping him from the squad?

I’ve no problem with that if it was for genuine reasons.

But he’s saying he was starting and that Digne has said he doesn’t feel well.

I’m no fan of the manager but I honestly don’t think he’d be stupid enough to make this up. He’d know he’d lose the entire dressing room, which is too big a risk in our current plight

Nope. Sorry. I have ALWAYS argued that defenders defend first and get forward second.

His crosses are very good when he's in form...but that hasn't been the case for a while...not helped this season by DCL not playing.

He chooses not to do what the manager asks him to do. Fine. I choose to call him a rat and want him to GTF out of the club ASAP.

…so, before Benitez came you rated Digne and said he was one of Brands only successes because of his crosses, yet since Benitez came you argue FBs need to be good defenders first and foremost & you’re not interested if they are primarily good going forward.

As clear as fog.

I'm sure plenty have read or heard of rumours , that we are linked to Vitaly Mykolenko as a potentially Dignes replacement. Don't know much about him tbh other than the odd You Tube Video . Anyone know if he is a decent replacement? Cheers

I don't think he's making it up either. I do think Digne is just showing Benitez the consequences of his man management style.

He's used injuries as a reason for poor performances then choses to drop a fit first team player due to a disagreement. Labels said player that he was not playing for the "team" - basically saying, we don't need you.

So as we're thin on the ground, the manager decides to bring him back in the fold. Said player has basically said no.

Consequences to actions in my book. Digne knows he'll have plenty of top clubs after him, so why play for this manager who has questioned his commitment for the team.

I agree with a lot of your points and they are well put.

For me, if he’s good enough to have plenty of top clubs after him, he doesn’t need to behave in this manner, because he’d get a move anyway.

He’s played with those players, his team mates for several years. He’s vice captain and always wanted an affinity with the fans.

It’s not just the manager he’s playing for. He’s playing for the fans, his team mates too.

Pulling a sickie when we are in dire straights doesn’t sit right with me, regardless of a ‘spat’ with the manager.

For me it shows petulance, toys out of pram type behaviour.

Man up, prove the manager wrong and show character/ leadership.

Absolutely get that too.

But depends on the extent of what happened between the two. He's never shown to be like this previously when things were tough.

Don't forget there's others at the club that have jumps solely on not wanting to work with Benitez.

He seems to be a complete C U next Tuesday to some people.

The minute it all went off, I knew that would be it for Digne in a blue shirt.
