Are we now seemingly incapable of getting a transfer fee for anyone nowadays? Rumours Napoli want to do the same with Mina- pony up with the cash or do one. We can’t always be the dopes in the transfer market.
Thats what happens when everyone knows how desperate we are.
Desperate for cash.
Desperate to be rid of players that the manager publicly derides.
Just plain desperate

I don't get this option to buy crap at all. What's the point of that when they've effectively signed his replacement? Say he goes somewhere and breaks his leg, he's back with us for, I think, another 4 years with another player there as well? We are just so so awful at selling players in the last 5 years. Digne should be a no-brainer sale, he's quite a good player. Just not for dinosaur managers it appears.

The structure of the deal makes sense for a 25-year-old player whose value might improve playing for a top squad. For a player who is 28, it's a derisory offer we should reject.

What we're seeing is that the market for our players is not that strong, but that shouldn't be a shock. Let's face it: we're a relegation-threatened club with budget problems, and other clubs are negotiating like it. If we were to go down, they know we'd have to fire sale, and they're trying to press that advantage.

what is the betting that the press if it has not been said already that we will do a swap deal for Barkley for a loan etc with Digne getting linked to chelsea, its easy to make stuff up like the press do

It’s basically a get out for Chelsea till Chilwell recovers, they get a top player as cover and we get a loan fee and his wages off the bill, maybe a player back on loan to boot

"Open to loan with option to buy"

Inter really keen. Chelsea still pondering due to 3 of their CBs needing contracts so may look to buy a CB instead.

Never change Everton
On loan with the option to buy. Which in Everton‘s case nearly always means either…

They go on loan and can’t get game time and the loaning club opts not to buy him.

Or…

They go on loan, do well, and then pick up a 6 to 12 month injury and the loaning club opt not to buy him.

Jesus Christ, we can’t sell anybody. If we opened a funeral home no one would die.

I appreciate the economic climate isn’t ideal and January isn’t great for buying/selling players. I appreciate it’s difficult to shift the likes of Iwobi or or Delph permanently right now. They’re on enormous wages and have done nothing of note in their time at the Club. But…

If we can’t find someone to pay 25 million for the french international left back, who wants to leave our club and is also available for European football, then we need to change things at the executive level.

I hope stories like this are just silly paper talk. If they’re not, we’re in serious trouble and people at the top are not effective operators.

With Everton’s sales record they should do some good for the world and pay some scientists to develop a new covid vaccine. Within 24 hours of it being available covid would mysteriously be eradicated and would be a thing of the past, making it worthless.

Rant over.
