If we loan digne and get a fee which allows us to get more players in the door in January then I'm all for it.

If digne is then as great as so many in this thread think (and for the record I think he's a very good player too), he'll excel for example at his stint with Chelsea, and we can sell him for a decent price in the summer.

Edit: I also think a solid RB and LB is better than a very good LB and failing RB. If this loan solves that then it's a positive.

Let's get it right mate, Liverpool didn't sell coutinho to raise funds, they sold him because he actively told them he wanted to go, klopp tried to keep him.

You don't sell your best players in their prime purely to raise money, that may be a good business model from a financial prospective, but from a football point of view it's just stupid.

He hasn't been at his best for well over a year now which is why this isn't as bad as it could be, but of it was say Richarlison who Rafael decided to pick a fight with and sell, the consequences would be a lot higher.

To be fair, yeah, the examples I've quoted there were the players themselves instigating moves because they wanted to move on rather than it being genius moves from Liverpool to sell, but the major point here being that they got their recruitment right with the proceeds - there are plenty of clubs who haven't. Because of the existing FFP rules we can't just do a Man City and blunt force spend our way to success, we have to be cleverer about it and there has been absolutely nothing clever about us since Moshiri arrived - our approach needs to change.

Having said that, we are not at the top of the tree from the point of view of retaining players - I just firmly believe that it doesn't matter who the player is, in our position you shouldn't be scared of selling them but the massive, massive caveat to that is that we need to get our recruitment far, far better to compensate for it.

Richarlison will be going sooner or later - whether it's this summer or the one after. What we should be doing is planning for that now.

Rafael knows what h is doing, he is an old hand at this type of stuff, the summer was a good window and I fully expect this one to be to similar with the departure of an out of form player the center.
On the first of Feb our squad will be better then it is on Jan the 1st

And then the results started to improve even though we only had a team of boys against Chelsea.

Digne has been poor for twelve months, long before RB arrived, he has been poor since the second half of last season.

I do believe it suits the club to sell and raise money and Digne is probably at his peak value now, whatever that is.
I would guess he will sell for around 30m, hopefully more.
The whole team has been underperforming since the back end of last season, not just Digne.

He is of an age though that we might be best placed to try and sell for a decent price. The problem is the managers approach is to paint those that he falls out with in a bad light which will no doubt be a detriment to hopes of inflating his price - its how he operates.

I just hope that he falls out with Delph, Rondon, Keane and the like soon too.
