2021/22 Lucas Digne

Can see us really struggling to find a buyer for him. No one wants to splash the cash on a 28 year old in Janurary, and only very few clubs could be able to afford him anyway.

The 3 clubs linked are Chelsea (first choice injured), Napoli and Inter, all of whom can offer both a decent wage and European football

Chelsea and Inter have top left backs who don't need replacing, I think they'll all be looking for loan deals cause they know how desperate we are to sell so will try to take advantage of it.

On the contrary. Being on the bench may have been the compromise:

Imagine Digne doesn’t want to play in case he gets injured.

Well if he’s not in the squad, buyers know that we’re desperate to sell.

So we tell him to show his face on the bench, go out to warm up. That keeps his value from falling too much, whilst keeping him from injury ahead of his inevitable move.

Incidentally, I do feel that this cost us at least a point: so many times we had the ball out left with bodies in the box, but Coleman or Gray had to cut back on their right foot to deliver. Having Digne there supplying DCL I’m sure would’ve led to a clear cut chance at least.
