How dare a player question a manager who is almost performing on a par with Mike Walker.

- “Any chance of putting someone on the post at a set piece boss, we seem to be conceding that way every week”

- ”Get out”

Later that day…..

- ”Yes Bill, he said it in-front of everyone. No Bill, I don’t know the international dialling code for the Ukraine”.

Got a few players names who left on a free because we refused to negotiate
We need the money... yet every club that is interested knows Benitez won't play him because he dared to question tactics that have resulted in 2 wins in 3.5 months, and our replacement is already here. Like I said, we have no bargaining power.

And what bargaining power do we have for a player that the manager now refuses to use, hasn't been playing and seemingly doesn't like the manager so wants out of the club.

We've just paid £11m for a lad with 15 senior starts but it's alright, Rangers' chairman has hailed Kenwright for being a "true gentleman" - aye, probably because we paid above and beyond what they'd expected in their wildest dreams.
What’s the use in crumbling, a few teams want a ready made international left back, make them pay. Get the fella who to negotiate who made us pay £40 million for the man who can’t be mentioned

Villa needed the money after spending over £100 million that everyone knew was the Grealish dough in advance.

Top clubs wont be arsed about parting £25-30 million for a good calibre player if they really want him imo.

I’m excited with the quick work in bringing in a couple of young high rated full backs

I believe that Digne has played below expectations for about a year

I should be very comfortable with him being sold for likely more than the combined fee for the young lads but it really doesn’t sit well with me how this has gone down. Sounds like one complaint and he’s out the door? That’s very unhealthy when you’re in a winning team, let alone the vice captain not being able to question tactics in our worst run for decades…
Exactly. I have no issue with the general plan. Sell at age 28 and reinvest in a younger player in that position, use the profit towards additional players. But if you step back for a second you realize how idiotic this situation is. We have handed the keys to a man who has had zero recent success managing, is hated by a not insignificant number of fans, and is leading us through one of our worst stretches in recent memory. If we choose to keep Digne until the summer, he would outlast Benitez. Instead we are selling a valuable player in January when we are in real danger of being dragged into a relegation scrap. Revisit in the summer. It's outrageous and shows how badly we are being managed from the very top.

Can't imagine anyone involved is any good at poker.

Pretty everton thing to do to take a player with value then publicly devalue him just before the transfer window opens.

Grealish had a buy-out clause. Villa didn't actually need the money at all. They've got owners who could pump money in without having to worry about FFP this year. They spent the money knowing they would get £100m back but they didn't absolutely need it to do so.

It'll go down to the wire this one mate. It'll be who blinks first.

We’ve just paid £30 million on 2 full backs who don’t know how to make beans on toast! Maybe their negotiatiors should come and work for us

Basically this.

We aren't selling Digne in the middle of the season because that was the plan. We're selling him because he stood up to Benitez.

Everyone knew Grealish was off mate same with Digne.

Absolutely no chance he stays at Everton past this window imo - I wouldn't be shocked if a deal with Chelsea hasn't already been agreed tbh.

Clubs on the brink of breaking FFP dont go spend £30 million as quickly as us unless we knew he was off unless someone like Holgate is a suprise departure which the club knows about yet hasn't hit the media.

It’s one of those positions that clubs find reasonably difficult to fill with quality. He’s a really good player. and I think a few teams will be jockeying for him.
It’s possible Digne owned this tactical magician of ours as he’s played under a couple of I’d say decent managers.
