2021/22 Lucas Digne

In theory we would need one to become a £30mil+ player and the other to lose 50% of their value and we'd still be on top.
One of them becoming a £30m+ player is a big ask though and thats not a comment on their ability just the reality of it. Digne is an experienced French international at his peak who most people agree (or did until we sold him and their opinion changed overnight as usual) was one of the best in the league and yet he's only going for £22m.

I see @Neiler 's head is about to fall off.

We'll have cleared between £18-20mil in book profit on the transfer fees for a player turning 29 in 6 months.

Patterson £11mil rising to £16mil + Mykolenko (£12mil at a guess) rising up to £17mil would be £23mil in fees.

While Digne's deal is 'ok' on the fee if we do receive £25mil the two full backs make it a good to very good deal.

Hopefully he signs asap and we can also bring in a defensive midfielder.
The money has been spent already Zat. We’ve got whatever we had to play with in the summer. Mykolenko and Patterson combined cost a good chunk more than what we’re getting for digne in the initial fee and attainable add ons.

But, why are Newcastle and Villa the only clubs prepared to pay money for him ?

I certainly thought there would be a better calibre of club chasing his signature.
It would seem that Evertonians rate him higher than others.
He isn't good enough for a top 6 club, over the last 6 years we have been rubbish so our standard is low.

He's on big wages and it's a deal that had to be done in January. Not many clubs buy a new full back in January unless they need to.

Well at 20 and 22 id be disappointed if neither of them became £30mil worth over the next decade.

Not if were considering James moving as well as the FFP + P/S rules.

Keep in mind we’ve paid £17m for a 22yo from the Ukrainian league and £11m for a lad with 27 senior club games

We’re selling a proven, quality LB for about £23m.
Well not quite.

Patterson £11mil rising to £16mil...

...Mykolenko we know could be £17mil after clauses. Id guess £12mil fee.

£23mil for those 2 or £22mil rising to £25mil for Digne.

Id take the 2.

Anyway, best of luck to Digne when we aren't playing Villa. Been a good player for us, he's a casualty of a terrible managerial appointment but after 3.5 years with us and with pretty much half of that time being tumultuous for the club it's good to freshen the place up with young and hungry players.
