2021/22 Lucas Digne

No more than £25m. Simply because I don't think there's a market for him - he's not good enough for the very top clubs and too good for clubs below and around us, who wouldn't be able to afford him anyway.

You're looking at... pffft... Spurs, Valencia, those types; second tier 'big' clubs.
Newcastle?

Someone texted me to say he went to Disneyland Paris and UK/France changed their Covid guidelines so he has to self-isolate hahaha that would be so Everton

He was in the Trafford centre earlier, it’s on his birds Instagram story

If he has fallen fowl of Benitez and it's because his attitude isn't right then being dropped is correct. Every player should be going out to perform a role for the team and not looking how the team can give them something as an individual. Perhaps Benitez is happy having a defence that is just concerned with defending and he doesn't want marauding wing backs which isn't great news for Lucas.

The problem is you need players like Digne to take you to that next level, to make something happen when everyone else has been marked out of the game.

He went to France without permission from the club.
if that's the case, and it's not what I've been led to believe (but that could be wrong) then it was stupid and that's not on.

I still don't think a punishment should risk the squad and could have been dealt with internally to not add to the pressure on the entire club (and manager). Could all be cleared up by Benitez actually saying it though. It's simple enough to do.

Even if what I've been told is true or if what Jinky has said is true, neither would seem down to attitude

they had Friday and Saturday off but if he'd gone to France without seeking permission from the club then that's not on either

Not doing anything about it could risk the squad to do be fair.

I mean they seemed up for it tonight...

Could easily argue they didn't in the first half tbf. I thought that was a really poor performance just no urgency and on another day we're down to 10.

It probably also meant Mina played. And he wasn't ready.

I'd have benched Digne btw. I would have. But just have him on the bench. It's a message, can fine him etc, but it doesn't punish the team. If we were flying I'd understand.

To be fair we don't know exactly what has happened yet. There is a good chance that he didn't want to be on the bench too I suppose.

Ah well.

I think obviously with the world we're in with travel restrictions etc, it's probably not advised by the club right now.

They may have an internal policy on it. Either way he's gone to France without the permission of club.
