…disagreements between players and managers happen all the time, usually because they aren’t getting selected.

Players should feel they can challenge tactics and make suggestions for change. It’s a bit like in any job. Good managers are inclusive & encourage discussion. It’s important Benitez keeps the dressing room onside, with Mina absent Digne will be needed against Palace.

Won't see Digne until Godfrey is injured.

Looks like Digne will be our transfer kitty for January then. Can't say it bothers me too much to be honest as he's been very average since his first season here. I'm sure there'll be lots of gnashing of teeth if he goes but the funds for a rebuild will have to come from somewhere.
Only one defender in the league contributed more assists than him last season

I think Digne is a very good attacking full back, for this reason he has looked very ordinary under Benitez and Ancelotti, neither of whom are happy with their full backs bombing on. First priority for the full back under those two managers is defending. Unfortunately, this is the worst part of Digne’s game and if Benitez is being allowed to stay for any significant length of time, Digne has to move on.

Me, I’d prefer to keep Lucas and get shut of Benitez and his anti football, but, in the real world, the owner calls the shots and Benitez is his man.

We have 8 defenders. Including Branthwaite who isn’t ready, Kenny who clearly isn’t good enough, and Mina who is perma crocked.

Benitez absolutely cannot afford to fall out with the left back.

The problem with Digne is that he's slow and lightweight. And teams have figured that out. He won't find it easy getting back in the side if Godfrey keeps performing.

Godfrey seems to be getting strength back after Covid and I think a spell at LB will do him good rather than being exposed at CB while we're a bit sh1t
A bit like Lescott when he first joined us. Played LB a fair bit. Before moving into the centre.
