….I think we’ll come unstuck with a CB playing LB, especially if Holgate is in the team.

i get where you’re coming from, but Digne at LB and Godfrey back in the centre looks a better balance to me, especially against the threat of Zaha.

Of course.

I just think you won't see Digne in an everton shirt now.

The problem with Digne is that he's slow and lightweight. And teams have figured that out. He won't find it easy getting back in the side if Godfrey keeps performing.

Godfrey seems to be getting strength back after Covid and I think a spell at LB will do him good rather than being exposed at CB while we're a bit sh1t

You mean back to his best as in could've been sent off last night (not just the "stamp" but another late challenge on Saka later on), falling over when he got into the opposition box, can't cross, is right footed too?

Don't mind him filling in there. No being our actual left back

Doesn’t wilf usually attack down the left flank? He’ll tear Coleman to shreds, so I would put Godfrey there, he’s stronger and quicker than both our fullbacks.

Not awful, but he was underperforming imo

You don't need to be the best footballer in the world to show a desire to get out and stop crosses coming into our box
I agree he has been underperforming

But look at their goal yesterday - comes down Coleman’s side and letting a cross into the box. Nobody would accuse Coleman of a lack of desire.

Digne has been poor since coming back from that injury last season. An injury that was meant to keep him out for 3 months and he came back in 6 weeks, btw. He also came back into a team that was being set up to be ultra defensive and now, he’s playing in a system that the manager has decided not to play to our best players’ strengths.

Hopefully now he has midfielders to pick from (he did already, like, but he seems to trust Gomes) then he’ll play 433 and in that case there is no excuse not to give Digne full licence to bomb forward. Doesn’t mean he can be excused the defensive work. But while I appreciate his form has been poor he has not been helped get out of the rut

I personally have never rated digne. He has had spells where his delivery has been good but when it isn't we really suffer having him on the pitch. I think if we do sell him then it won't be the worst idea. I feel more comfortable with Godfrey there for sure and Godfrey will handle Zaha much better than Digne would.
