2021/22 Lucas Digne

he signed a new long-term deal last season because he was convinced of the direction the club were going in

He's under the deal until 2025 and doesn't want out. He's also a very good player. He's been poor lately, but the system has been all, all wrong.
We have plenty of other problems but it wouldn’t be a disaster, that’s how I see it, price depending.

Doing a bit of a of research...

Digne in the PL last season

1st in Everton's squad for chances created (46)
1st in Everton's squad for assists (7)
1st for crosses/passes into the box
2nd for tackles won (39, Allan top on 45)

The idea he has been poor for ages is ridiculous.
Football is not a stat based game. Don't base play on numbers.

Can I say he is been poor but still think he has loads of quality and I would prefer we kept him? Always hard to find a middle ground in such things.

Robertson has 8 assists in the last calendar year in the prem

Just to be fair for comparison I will pick a distinctly average left back let’s say Matt Targett at villa. He has 3 assists and 1 goal in the prem in the last calendar year. Even he has done slightly better than Digne.

I know mate but there they are.

Now he's not been in form. I agree with that. He's not been used fully right IMO but that doesn't excuse him - he's been poor.

But I think playing Godfrey or Holgate instead of one of Digne and Coleman is the way forward regardless of if Mina is fit or not. We need solidity. Personally I'd ditch Coleman for the time being as he is worse than Digne
I know, unfortunately for all his inadequacies as the years go on,Seamus is still our captain and although not a great one,the only player we have who can really shoulder that responsibility.

But he’s neither a great full back anymore, nor a great Captain, so I sort of lose your point……..

Just saying Digne is out of form, deserved dropping, Seamus too, probably in even worse form, but due to him being our captain and a total lack of other candidates,he will stay in the team, well for now anyhow.

I for one am glad one of our players had the balls to question the manager's tactics and not just go along with it - if it is the case.

The tactics that saw us go on our poorest run in 22 years, is it?

Nothing that can't be resolved if both parties show a bit of humility. Won't hold my breath with Benitez mind.
Sorry. No.

Manager's have to manage. It's their way or eventually the highway for the player.
