I wouldn't disagree with that but it's hard to think who our best tackler is , they are all pretty crap.According to some stats, which are clearly rubbish. He obviously isn’t our best tackler, he can’t tackle to save his life.

'some stats' - these are the stats which every single PL team pays millions to use and do all of their analysis off. You can moan about it all you like, it's a huge part of the game.According to some stats, which are clearly rubbish. He obviously isn’t our best tackler, he can’t tackle to save his life.
It’s easy to bore people when you chat absolute wham to be fair.
That post has got to be one of the biggest collection of straw man arguments I’ve ever seen in one place.
You seem to be under the impression that saying stats are a useful tool in football (which is backed up by the fact that nearly every top level team have advanced data analytics teams) is the same as saying “with stats you never have to watch a football match ever again!”
Pickford.I wouldn't disagree with that but it's hard to think who our best tackler is , they are all pretty crap.
I’m taking on board what you’re saying, I’m just saying that I believe you’re wrong and stuck in an outmoded way of thinking, and the majority of those involved in high level football agree with me.Stats were being used to "show" that Digne had been playing well when it was fairly clear to anybody watching that he has been struggling. It's the perfect example of what I am saying! The stats are leading the discussion as opposed to what is actually being seen. The reality compared to what is on paper.
I am saying its a massively overplayed tool because it really is. "XG", "duels won", "dribbles completed" none of this is an actual thing. It is a metric that has been determined to be useful by the people making the statistics. Of course all clubs have analytical teams, they will go through anything to get the tiniest of advantage over the rest of the clubs and I feel like people are being blinded by the science of it.
It's something I feel passionate about, if you want to dismiss it as "absolute wham" and not even take on board what I am saying (obviously not expecting agreement) and go to that level then whatever.
Quite disappointing really.

I like stats but the eye test is still better. If someone passes the eye test, thats when you should go into the analyticsThere’s teams of data analysts working at almost every major club who’d probably disagree with you.
Pickford.
Well he put in my favourite tackle in recent times.
I it really that outmoded for me to say that the stats are not representative of what is actually happening in a great deal of case as no variance is taken in to account?I’m taking on board what you’re saying, I’m just saying that I believe you’re wrong and stuck in an outmoded way of thinking, and the majority of those involved in high level football agree with me.
Data does not understand a contribution as well as your eyes and never will. There’s teams of data analysts working at almost every major club who’d probably disagree with you.
