Lukaku - A Fond Farewell

We should booo the board not Lukaku we let him go cheap, and got their has beens
Like a journo said yesterday Lukaku is Uniteds future Rooney is their past

Great write up from Cascarino this morning just shows what an absolute joke our board are

Arsenal kept Alexis Sanchez, Liverpool turned down more than £100m for Philippe Coutinho, right, and Southampton held on to Virgil van Dijk despite the player threatening to go on strike.

“Those teams deemed their stars to be irreplaceable so they kept hold of them. Lukaku was Everton’s star and he had left by early July.

“I would argue, given his talent, potential and importance to Everton, that Lukaku is worth more than either Sanchez or Coutinho and yet not only did they sell him, it now seems that Everton didn’t even get the market rate for the Belgium striker.

“Even if they had fought to keep him a little longer, then Neymar’s move to Paris Saint-Germain for nearly £200m would have seen Lukaku’s price double.

Romelu Lukaku is a manchester united player

Romelu Lukaku scores goals, thats what he will do, he has better players at Utd so his weaknesses dont get pointed out as much, so united fans wont care about his work rate etc, at us though it was a detriment to the team.

Stick Lukaku in in our side for our opening fixtures this season and he would be on the same amount of goals as Rooney (may of got a few when we were 2-0 up to Split but hey ho)

He has carried on doing what he has done for us at Utd, turning up in the last 20 minutes when games are won, Rooneys 2 goals this season has won us more points than Lukaku's has for United.

He is gone, we all would of prefered him here yes! But his attitude stank and it would of been counter productive to keep him.

In the same fixtures last season with Rom in our team, he scored a grand total of 1 goal
Spot on for me.

I didn't see anything in the last four years to suggest that this run of form wouldn't be happening if he was still here. Last season alone there was a spell of around 10 games where they didn't win, and the losses at Stamford Bridge and Anfield were as shameful as anything we've seen in recent weeks.

As I said if thats goading fans were in a PC era of football.

At the same time if you've taken no offence so whats the issue?
Others may have, but you've got to be a very simpleminded person, if that, of all things gets you upset at a football match.

As fans we may as well stop singing as that would be goading the opposition, not very nice.
Ok mate, I expect a bit of respect from ex players but guess that makes me a simple minded person as you say :)

What given right has he to show you or anyone else as an opposition fan respect?
If he over crossed the line like Gary Neville kicking the ball into the crowd at Goodison the ref is there to step-in.

He told me to shush, the FA should act immediately - what exactly do you want, it didn't upset you, so why are you bothered?

When he was wearing Royal Blue we had every right to be pissed off by his antics, but he's not anymore so not our problem.

Like I said we should stop singing at games because that is goading, we should just sit quietly and nod in appreciation.

Everyone has a right to show respect and be given respect mate. Your view on that is opposed to mine and that's no problem.

I don't get you equating a crowd singing to a player gesturing to fans but again as you said mate, I must be simple minded ;).

We have lost a great player in Lukaku and he will take some replacing.

If everyone has the right to respect why do we sing songs such as - 'Kopites Are Gobshi*tes' , 'Manchester Is Full Of Sh*t
I've picked two easier ones, but can list many many more, which you'll know anyway.
Why should we be allowed to sing passive aggressive abuse via songs to opposition fans and players, who at the end of the day are either doing there job, or enjoying a day out.

I don't imagine in many walks of life you'd walk into a shop and start singing - You fat [Poor language removed] at a member of staff - so why treat a footballer in the same manner?

Its seemingly okay for the fans to give it out, but as soon as your on the receiving end its time to cry.
From a personal perspective, I'd be happy a player showing respect prior to a match, after the match, but never during the match - and you know what if they choose to do neither I couldn't care less.

iirc wasn't he really respectful when he scored against West Brom?

He acted like the cock end he is again yesterday, a cracking player but a completely self absorbed whopper of a man.

I personally don't mate, I have my kids with me. And I can't answer for 36k other Blues.

Agree completely with wanting a player to give it all on the pitch, play like it actually matters and is not just a job.

He'll be back in 7 years. We'll get him on a free. Utd will have just pulled our pants down and taken our latest up and coming star, and chucked him in as part of the deal. He always knew he'd come "home". He still has Chang in his fridge.
He'll play at Utd, and get a great reception having scored 600 goals in 7 years and winning everything. He'll play up front on his own, try his hardest, but get dragged off after 80 minutes cos he's goosed.
Then the patronising applause will start. "God bless plucky little Everton guv" they will say as our former starlet races though to smash the ball past our despairing keeper. He then proceeds to sprint to the away fans, does a power slide, whilst raising both middle digits.

Can't wait for the fume that day.

Well your stance is spot on, and like you said you can't speak for everyone else.
Lukaku is one person, who lets be honest has been given countless abuse from our fans over twitter (don't agree with at all), probably given stick at the match; his 1st half miss was the loudest we were all game -bar the free kick hitting the wall- so for his small reaction to be getting so much attention doesn't make sense to me.

Generally speaking what goes on at any sporting event is isolated, its a heated environment, people do act differently then they would in normal walk of life, so I just wouldn't care. If I wanted to flip the situation, I'd say he's shown us respect as he's made a big deal about the situation, he wanted to get one over us, he did, and he's made it his purpose to let us know.

With all due respect, that's a load of bitter horseshit. Lukaku has scored 7 goals in 7 appearances. No one scores 7 meaningless goals in 7 appearances. To compare him with an old plodder like Rooney is absurd.

I think the reaction to the wide was relief but hard to tell from TV.

Hopefully he doesn't get the chance to get up to any shenanigans at Goodison.
