Lukaku to Spurs

Everton only usually buy player with resale value, at the alleged £20+ million, when he comes to be sold, would we get more?

The market today is inflated, about 18 million is a fair price

I'd go alone with that, could get it lower with a sell on clause, buy back clause, or giving first option on anyone they have their eye on at us - which is effectively a meaningless thing to us to give away anyway in the end.

I totally understand all arguments on Lukaku and if I'm perfectly honest I don't think he's worth £20m right now, regardless if there's a lot of unearthed talent there or not, but I would like us to sign him still as I do think he's a work in progress.

Personally I wouldn't go more than £20m for him, I understand football and inflated values in today's market so his value will be more than I think he's currently worth but if we stick to a value and get out priced, I'd like us to go for Bony instead!

But Bony won't be cheap but he's at a good age and is more the finished article for me.

I'd assume that if he kept up the goalscoring rate he has had mate then by like 24-25 even with only marginal improvement on his ability he'd go for 30+

Soon as he starts to score in europe at that rate his value sky rockets by 10m +

His horrifying run just after Christmas really alarmed me and I haven't seen much since to justify the £20m price tag at all.

He has power, he can definitely slot, but I'm concerned about his lack of first touch, perhaps a touch less pace than a top player would need and, worryingly, his application on the pitch.

If we do get him, we should be bargaining hard on that fee for sure.

I thought 2nd half yesterday was really bad when we got into some promising positions and he just gave away possession by miscontrolling the ball-a few yards away from him at times. For all his good attributes, that's a really frustrating part of his game. Fortunately we were already 2 nil up by then. That weakness alone should shave a few mil off his asking price.

£20m for a striker who has scored 30 premier league goals over two seasons, for two different clubs before the age of 21.

Are you SURE?

1 in 2 goal scoring rate, 20 years old, £20m would be excellent business.

Yes his control looks suspect but he scores goals and will get better.

And he's called Wilfred like my favourite dog. What's there not to like?

it's actually wilfried do you have a fave dog called willfried? ha

Couldn't give a flying what his all-round play is like as long as he slots. And he does. He's settled, has proved for years now that he can handle the league, has fitted in well at the club and is 20.

I don't fancy waiting around for another umpteen years for us to stumble across a top striker. They're very difficult to find for a reasonable price and Lukaku is, or could be, at least, in that bracket.

Break the bank if necessary.

I'd be shocked if we had anywhere near the 15-20m needed to get him.

Don't forget we're still Everton.
Its never paid up front anyway is it, and to be honest, are chelsea really arsed who much or little they get for them? don't get me wrong, they are a business and expect to make some profits, but this is the club that did this

If we can afford it then get him in. This season has shown what we can do with a class striker up top and that is what he is. The fact that he is 20 means he will only get better so his first touch and link up play will only improve. If we did sign him imagine how good he could be in 3 years time when you see how good he is already?

without a doubt imo, unless it's in his last year with him being past his prime. whatever the fee we want to pay for him, it won't all be up front anyway. even if it stretched to £20m, it will be over installments, stages and in add-ons etc. who knows really, think he'll have better options if we don't get 4th if chelsea hint that he's sellable

just wait and see i suppose, at least we know he's our priority, which seems ambitious to me, which is good.
