Lukaku to Spurs

For the record, I don't think Bony is the answer either. He'd cost about the same as Lukaku for the same, if not less end result and infinitely less resale value.

Bob will have his targets. I think he probably knows who he wants when Lukaku was out injured and we struggled to score.

The same Pato who scored 1 goal in his last 15 games over his last 2 seasons at Milan?

Bony whose scored 2 goals less than Lukaku in more games if you remove the pens he's slotted?

Hernandez whose never started as a lone striker and looks totally unsuited to the role?

and Benteke whose got a blown out achilles?

Pato doesn't play for Milan

Wouldn't hold your breath waiting for an answer.

To be fair, I always think asking for alternative names in this kind of a discussion is a nonsense. We don't have scouting networks - for example, how many of us knew who John Stones or Kevin Mirallas where when we signed them, or when we were linked to Fer, Odjidja-Ofoe and so on.

I trust Martinez to have several options up his sleeve for the summer, but I do think Lukaku is the number one target and I don't have a problem with that, but it's just the fee.

I know this is just one example but I think a lot of people.

And it's not quite the same, we're on about a top class striker here to replace Lukaku, very few strikers of that level are unknown.

In the system we play, it is not as cut and dry as goals scored. Bony is older than Lukaku yes, but his around game in my opinion is near enough complete, he is amazing in the air and is brilliant at holding the ball up and bringing people into play. Lets not forget that he is playing in a Swansea side that are having a very poor season so comparing his stats to Lukaku in a Cl challenging Everton team is very unfair.

Hernandez and Pato where thrown in there as suggestions with pace and capable of stretching the line, wheather that will work for our system I don't know, but what I do know is they would be half the price.

Benteke and Traore are realistic shouts also, depending on their injuries.

I'd be made up if we got Bony, tbh.

Lukaku ain't joining us. Not with no Champions League windfall, which is not officially OFF and won't be back ON for a long time.

Sorry, to rephrase, who would have thought we'd sign either of them? Both were left-field bids, and I think that's how things work - players we're not thinking about now could easily be on the radar. Martinez strikes me as professional in his approach to recruitment and I think after avoiding January altogether that he's had a plan for some time.

Gotta agree. Spurs will have him as they'll get some some manager who was boss in Germany, spend £60million, finish midtable, and have all their fans wanting the money men out.

Meantime - Lukaku will want a transfer.

Although I know what you're saying, but I think Martinez is slightly different, other than Lukaku we all saw every other signing coming really, and we're spoken about for months in advance.

Just you, trying to use the perceived opinion of Mourinho to justify your own...weaksauce. You better hope Chelsea win the title, otherwise he's getting ripped for letting Lukaku go out on loan but I'm sure you won't agree with that.
Mourinho does not rate him otherwise he would be playing for chelsea, rather than using BA, Torres or a past it Eto, or even on some occasions, no striker at all. That is a fact.
