Lukaku to Spurs

I don't care how many goals Lukaku has scored this or any other season, he is not worth blowing the bulk of the transfer kitty on.

How many of us would have questioned paying big money for Jelavic if he had only been on loan here during that golden period between January and May, 2012?

You see these stikers who don't do owt but score a goal every one and a half or two games or whatever, once they hit a fallow period they become passengers.

Don't get me wrong.....I would buy him if he was on sale at 12 million-ish.....15 at an absolute maximum.

Based on what I have seen so far, no way would I be paying £20 million + for him.
 
Still can't see us signing Lukaku for £20m. Hope I'm wrong here, as he's most probably the best striker we could have any hope in signing. For all his so called shortcomings he still bangs them in as a 20 year old in a physically very demanding league. The only rest he got, was when he was out injured. Any team that decides to spend £20m on him is onto a winner imo.

If what Martinez said is true about us still having circa £20m from the last two transfer windows then that should cover most of his fee. Realistically for a 5th place finish, Europa League qualification and added TV money, we should be looking at the very least £10m. We'll see though.

Well I've done the calculations and my funds total came up to 45m. But I may have pressed the wrong button on the calculator at some point.

Bingo.

He got tired. Not lazy. If Kone/Traore had been healthy we'd all be saying that we must go all out to sign Lukaku. Because he looks fantastic before he runs out of steam - which he does after about 5-6 straight games of the full 90. Which is understandable and expected (and why you need a squad).

First off, they had a revolving door at the manager's office for a good 2 years, with new ones coming in and trying to get their own players, which leads to a lot of poo situations and good players not playing.

Second off, they've got mostly crap managers. I'm not talking about buying 5 £20m+ players, I'm talking about buying a CM replacement/backup, as Osman is crap, a CB - we have a few, but one of them is often injured, another one is about 40 years old and (hope not) an injury away from not playing any more. And then a striker - which is where we'd need to spend the majority of our cash, never mind if it's on Lukaku or another target.

I hope you see the difference here - 3-4 players in various positions bought for about £20-30m, not 7 midfielders bought for 95. And I hope you're not being serious, as you (and everyone) would cry out instantly when they see Osman lining up every week because we'd have no one else.
 
Lads, lads, just chill out and write shorter messages. It's a ball ache having to read so much text and we are only discussing hypotheticals here.
