How? Lukaku consistently has scored more than Cahill and he has more goalscoring records.
I didn't realise goals were the only measure of a player. Lukaku better than Zidane!!

Not really. TC was great of course - a fighter, Leader, v aggressive on the pitch and like Rom he did a few things very well. Legit Don in the air and had fast, intelligent movement on the break and attacking the box. But technically quite a limited player who wasn't able to help us play football - this was very obvious if you saw us on a bad game, he couldn't make the play happen and you just had to hope he got on the end of a cross or pounced on a mistake.Lol. Cahill was a far better player than Lukaku

That doesn't matter for some on here, it's more about who ran around the most. Lukaku bangs goals in for fun, to be fair though, Cahill was the more rounded player.
Not to be a d, but what big games in an Everton shirt did Cahill show up for exactly? I mean if Rom stayed the same length of time he'd have scored more derby goals than Tim. Cahill was great at the World Cup tbf, but Rom also scored a knockout stage winner in 2014 and played in a 2018 semi so not sure that helps Tim either. Some on here can see the bigger picture. A fairweather poacher who went missing and sulked when he was needed to show up, or someone who gave everything to the team no matter what. It's not running around a lot, it's contribution to a team game.

I mean I'm just anticipating the argument that Cahill showed up for derbies and Rom didn't. Can you answer the question though? And I'm honestly asking, which big games did Tim show up for? I look through those years and see the Villarreal qualifiers, Fiorentina, the United semi, the Chelsea final and the RS semi as the biggest knockout games and Cahill didn't score in any. Was he excellent despite not scoring?Fair play to him, it's historically very difficult for strikers to outscore midfielders.
I'm just a bit unsure why we're desecrating on Rom's "big game performance" by holding up Cahill as some type of peak Michael Jordan when I'm not sure it was the case.
I love Dom and who knows what the next couple of years hold but I'm not going to pick him over Rom because he runs the channels and I'm not picking Cahill because he ran harder. Conte is showing what happens when you play to Rom's strengths just the same as Carlo is showing how much more DCL is capable of when you play to his. Management matters too and at Everton largely and United Rom didn't have it. I don't want that to sound like an excuse but Everton and that United struggled in big games at large because they were poorly organized and had limited midfields not because Rom was terrible.Nobody is doing that. Just making the observation that Cahill didn't disappear in games. There were many many times that playing with Lukaku was like having 10 men, he'd visibly hide behind defenders and throw his arms up in the air when he didn't receive an impossible pass. He didn't bother showing for it when the chips were down.
I always think back to that game Lukaku played when he was at United and had less touches of the ball than Mignolet. There was outrage among United fans, but it was no shock to me or many other Everton fans. He put in that same sort of shift in many times for us.
Great goalscorer, can't deny his tally. But I can't deny my eyes either, he played for himself and never the team he was on. I think it's mad that anyone would opt for him over Cahill in a clutch match, but that's just me. I don't rate Lukaku as anything other than an average player who was never there when you needed him. I was glad he left and I much prefer DCL

He lost the league by 1 point and a European Final last season. Yes they didn't actually win a trophy but we are talking extremely fine margins to the point that it is pretty unreasonable to say they 100% can't do it.All joking aside, I don't think Rom is terrible. Just that his goals cover up many flaws that will cost you over the course of a season. I doubt his ability to be part of a trophy winning side. I'll leave it at that, because it really is the never ending debate on here
