Lukaku. Yes or no

If you were to have 3 good players, that may help to attract a 4th, then a 5th, then..

First of all we’re seeing how effective he can be playing with a partner up front rather than being the lone target man. I think him and Richy would be a pretty electric partnership, tbf.

Maybe if we had that kind of strike force, then creative type players might choose us over alternative transfer options because their numbers could be pretty good, too.

All pie in the sky, mind.

Chicken and egg type situation isn't it but simple math tells us instead of blowing 70 million and 200k a week you can get 2 players for that amount in positions that are more critical would be a better way forward. I don't think great players are going to look at Lukaku and join for that reason, if we get two players in like Allan and results start picking up then we might start to attract bigger names.

Oh, absolutely. I was just answering the question posed. Clearly never going to happen.

I’m just off to watch that Lukaku Everton goals compilation again and cry myself to sleep...

You have moved the goalposts a fair bit mate. I would never have wrote "Attract Great Players," I said help attract "Good players." ;)

Quite. But just remember you could be a Harry Kane sale away from being in the same position. Big season ahead and FWIW I don't think you'll be in that position but you saw how close it was where you could have missed out on European football altogether. The time away definitely helped Spurs with getting Kane back and so on. It's a slippery slope when things start to fall apart.

You're so correct there Binman and we were lucky to get Kane back but you're forgetting that you were also lucky to get Theo back :p

Obviously your starting point is far ahead of ours so you can mock but honestly from the outside looking in you've lost players like Bale, Modric and Eriksen and while it would be unrealistic to think anyone could go on and buy better or the same to replace, they've not been anywhere near and that is how a team generally declines when the incomings are substandard compared to what is going out.

If Kane leaves there is no one at the same level you can get in and while the money like with the Bale cash might fuel a whole new team that can go on to great things there are zero guarantees.

Yet again mate, I agree with you 100%.
At the moment, amongst all of us "Also rans" we do have a better start base but even if Kane stays, (I wouldn't and I don't think he will,) it could go either way.
Getting out the manager would probably be the best place to start (well as we seem to have now got the C/M we needed, after a new R/B.)

Let down by our inability to surround him with better players.

Would love to have seen him in the Everton side that had Arteta, Cahill, Pienaar, Baines, Fellaini.

Stones and Barkley are nothing to Everton compared to what Lukaku offered, he was the one player out of that threesome we were always going miss. Lukaku ain't coming back.

There's a name from the past, Pienaar.
I was really pleased to buy him but it never at all worked out for him and was pleased to get him out of the squad when we sold him back to you.
