Lukaku. Yes or no

This is just wild to me. I can't really believe this is an unbiased take, I'm sorry.

It may seem to be biased because you also have a biased view (it seems), but in the other direction. However, there is an element of truth to it, Lukaku never did it consistently against the better teams, in fact he very rarely did anything against the better teams, not even contribute to a team performance, even if he wasn't scoring, he either went missing or the ball was bouncing off him in random directions. That would tell me that he is not in the echelons that you describe him to be.

He is a great finisher but his all round game is not up to the standard that you would expect from a top 3 striker or even a top 10 striker.

I'm still of the opinion that his youth coaches sold him short. He was a big kid, ridiculously so compared to his peers, and likely viewed as a future cash cow (which turned out to be true) so was rushed. Who needs to hold a ball up when you can physically beat someone to a pulp or straight up outpace them? Problem is you eventually run in to pro's.

I'd have stuck with him but his mama said no, apparently. Rom's a good dude but he's been fed a line of crap in certain ways. I'll always like him but he will disappoint you with stuff, at times...on and off the field.

Agree fully.

The problem is when you get around to naming people who were better names like Robbie Fowler get thrown out and the entire thing comes crashing down.

That isn't a problem, why would that be a problem. If somebody said Stuart Barlow was better then yes, the argument comes crashing down but I believe that most football fans (take of the blue spectacles), of that era, would say that Fowler was better than Lukaku and it would be hard to argue against it.

If it was a straight choice of which one you would put into a chosen XI, I would be surprised if Fowler did not get in ahead of Lukaku.

I think outside the Everton sphere the questions of Lukaku that get asked here are still asked but they are asked in the tone of "this is why he's not Lewandowski or Benzema" and not "this is why he's actually crap I'm very smart."

There are different levels of crap though. On the whole, nearly every single poster has explained their reasoning behind why they think he is crap, there have been a lot of these posts where they say he is crap but then say he is good at x, for example.

There is no denying that he is not crap in the absolute sense but in the relative sense he is actually quite crap. I am crap at football in the absolute sense, he is better than me :)

Relative to what? Because the answer to that is still he's not unless you're saying relative to Robert Lewandowski. And if you are saying that well then you're making the opposite point that you think you are.

you ain't gonna get any Everton fan (who knows football at least) who says Lukaku is a better player than Robbie Fowler.... even despite the fact many blues can't stand Fowler they will say he was a far better striker than Lukaku.

If Fowler aged 23/24 played in that Italian league he would have set a goalscoring record that would struggle to be broken.

Fowler was a far far better player than Lukaku..... its not even debatable.
