Lukaku. Yes or no

I think outside the Everton sphere the questions of Lukaku that get asked here are still asked but they are asked in the tone of "this is why he's not Lewandowski or Benzema" and not "this is why he's actually crap I'm very smart."

Lukaku isn't crap and actually can look very good "if"....

he's playing sub standard opponents
he actually fancies it
he isn't expected to work for the team
controlling the ball is preferred but not necessary

He can look really good if the stars align for him. But on the contrary - he can look like an imposter on the pitch when they don't.

A bang average footballer who can finish well. John Aldridge without the cans of Skol if you will.....

you ain't gonna get any Everton fan (who knows football at least) who says Lukaku is a better player than Robbie Fowler.... even despite the fact many blues can't stand Fowler they will say he was a far better striker than Lukaku.

If Fowler aged 23/24 played in that Italian league he would have set a goalscoring record that would struggle to be broken.

Fowler was a far far better player than Lukaku..... its not even debatable.

Hate Fowler but at his peak he was better footballer than Lukaku. Lukaku looks like he will have a career where he was at a decent standard for longer though.

Probably but Fowler had that bad injury that started the decline, it's not like he just lost it out of nowhere. Just unlucky that that plus Owen's emergence did his RS career in and he never looked up for it as much thereafter.

Relative to what? Because the answer to that is still he's not unless you're saying relative to Robert Lewandowski. And if you are saying that well then you're making the opposite point that you think you are.

What I am saying is that you are blinded by your love for him and not seeing the bigger picture, in [most of] these posts. If there is one ounce of criticism levelled at him, you pounce with 'you are biased', etc.

One or 2 simply say he is crap or stealing a living but do you really think that is their only opinion on him. I would seriously stop getting wound up over Lukaku and other people's opinions of him and especially how they communicate it. 90% of posts are balanced in they overtly recognise his strengths but you still sometimes respond like a 14 year old girl who has just heard that Justin Bieber is not the best singer of all time.

As in, a UK fan may say, 'oh my god he is so crap' but it should not be read in such a black and white way, or at least I have certainly learned not to read like that, when it comes to football fans, especially.

I'm honestly not really worked up about him at all. I haven't watched Chelsea play in months tbh. I just think we as a group look bit a gang of tits with how we talk about our former players. Rom isn't the only one.

Nah it is actually all of you are on the Everton reservation too much and need to venture out some.

As I said on here people ask questions of his game and treat them like proof that he's never been any good. Everywhere else people ask those questions as the reason he was never as good as Suarez or Lewandowski. Which is to say still quite good.
