Lukaku

Yes because the player who scored 1 in 2 for Swansea is a better player. Maybe we should allow him to go a score 2 in 3 elsewhere.

Like the ACON?

Bony might be the better player now but he won't be in eighteen months. Lukaku is almost as good if not on a par already, and is four years younger. Unless Bony is significantly cheaper, Lukaku is the better purchase. The proof of this is that he's produced the goods in two consecutive seasons with two different non-moneybags clubs. Bony has only done it once - which is not to say that he WON'T do it again - so why take the risk?

Well if we go by what Chelsea supposedly want ( 40m Euros ) and that Bony will cost 20m that makes Bony significantly cheaper doesn't it. I think Lukaku will cost anywhere between 20-25m and Bony will cost anywhere between 17-20m and I think both of those prices are probably more than we would/could pay. I guess we will see soon enough mate

good points and you are corrrect, but you're basing it purely on prem at the end there, i wouldn't say vitesse arhem are exactly a money club

I think Lukaku potentially is a better player and if we buy him to develop him for ourselves and not for profit id have no qualms whatsoever about buying him. I just dont love the idea of buying a player and then offloading him when he reaches his peak, either financially or in terms of ability.

Yeah but if we bought him for 20 mil, offloaded for 50 and bought 2 1/2 Lukaku quality players with the money, would it not improve us both in the short and long term?

Its sad but its a fact, if we want to buy players, we need to either get CL or sell players, ultimately, if we spend for short term gain, the long term will destroy us.

Also, and more importantly, Lukaku is ace.

He's no Bony.

Yeah but Bonys no Lukaku either

Bony for Swansea: 16 goals, 4 assists
Lukaku for us: 15 goals, 8 assists
for Brom: 17 goals, 4 assists

Both pretty much the same, may as well look beyond the immediate survival of the club and consider that buying Rom for 20mil, means we could potentially buy two or three Roms in a few years time and continue to progress off the back of it.

That's what we want to pay, I'm starting to think that's not what Chelsea want to sell for.

Yep, and it's also worth noting that when people go on about resale value, they're not doing so because they have a desire to sell in the future, they're just saying they'd rather spend money on a player who is likely to improve, and ergo their value will increase.

Yep, I'd rather have a player who has potential to improve, than one who has likely peaked at the same level.
