tim cahill
Player Valuation: £50m
He got his fair share of assists to be fair. It's not the strike rate as such as he goes through flourishes. It's that half the time he's non-existent in the game. When he doesn't score, he offers nothing.

Name a player for £15m who we could get that offers anywhere near the same value. Top level goals and age combined. You won't do it.
Lukaku is worth £20m for the same reason that McCarthy was worth £13m. Age is a massive factor.

Would you agree that £20m outright would be pretty much mental though? I wouldn't mind paying the £20m+ if it's based on goals, appearances etc., but just can't justify anything more than £15m up front.
Yes, age, potential, etc. but at the end of it all he stinks the gaff out half the time he plays.
You say some silly things. Half the time he plays he scores a goal.
And the other half...?
We were fighting for top 4 the whole season. A goal in September is worth the same as a goal in January.
Its still a meh return for a 30m striker mate
He scored the same amount as Kev and Naismith in the same period which is poor imo
Nobody is talking about him signing for £30m. Why do you keep saying £30m ?

It's still a goal that wouldn't have been scored without his contribution though.Normally in games when he's "on", and I remember at least two from last year that were actually scuffed shots that others turned in - Oviedo at United for example.
So he's either on fire or ice cold. The hope is that he finds the consistency due to his potential, but we're talking club record transfer here.
This is getting boring. But, one question.
IF, he was our player, had been for 3 years, with 2 years left on a contract, and had scored 15-20 goals a season for us, would we want more than £20m?
