Maybe, but wouldn't it be wiser to strike a gentlemen's agreement that he won't play against them at Goodison? I mean that way he would be able to help us destroy Arsenal. I know it's illegal, but hey, who needs to know?

Because it would be beyond obvious and we'd get a massive fine for it.

Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku has been linked with a permanent move to Everton, while Wolfsburg are reportedly preparing a £20million offer for the Belgium international. A quick decision is unlikely to be made on Lukaku's future, though, with the forward due to link up with Chelsea during their European tour in the next couple of weeks to be assessed by Jose Mourinho.

That was 09:30 this morning.

Sky Sports is telling people all sorts and covering all angles.

Basically they know nothing.

It is true that at present with all the modern fitness techniques that I can't fathom, players are maintaining higher levels past the age of thirty than they used to. They still have a value, often more than players of a similar age would have had years ago.

I'm not suggesting that you'd have seen a sum £30M again for Rio Ferdinand if he was still in contract.

I think they're bound to worry if a lot of place's are saying it's off

More clever get out of jail free cards for Sky Sports.

Last night it was:

19:36
Frank Lampard may have left Stamford Bridge but Romelu Lukakuis set to return to Chelsea for pre-season and fight for a first-team place, according to Sky sources. Reports had suggested that Lukaku was close to signing a permanent deal with Everton, where he scored 16 goals during a loan spell last season, but it is understood that he will go back to the Blues.

notice the 'it is understood' phrase.

That means they are SPECULATING.

The next thing they say:

19:46

While Roberto Martinez has made it clear he would like Romelu Lukaku to return to Goodison Park, Everton are also understood to have also enquired about Chelsea winger Christian Atsu. The Ghana international spent last season on loan at Vitesse Arnhem in Holland before going to the World Cup, and Chelsea could sanction another temporary move.Sky sources close to Atsu have indicated he would welcome the chance to join Everton.

What 'Sky sources close to Atsu' exactly?

His agent? His nan?

Its nonsense. They know nothing.

'Everton are also understood to have'

Can no one see the speculating going on there?

Surely Martinez is allowed to make his own team selection? If he decides not to play him, I can't see what the FA can do about that.

That said, I agree with roydo really. If Mourinho doesn't rate him that much, why bother about it if he plays against them or not.

Exactly, the FA have no say in what is your best squad, you register players and use them at the managers disgression. Any fine is open massively to a "lawsuit". (not sure if the correct word).

That's the reason that the rule was brought in preventing players from playing against their parent club when on loan. Too many gentlemen's agreements.

bizzaro, you nailed it. That essentially says "He might go to Everton, might go to Wolfsburg, might stay at Chelsea." Well thanks, guys.

UEFA is also on a three year path to banning 3rd party ownership across Europe as is the case in England.

This is to clamp down on corruption.
