Lukaku

I wish all the people who post stuff like this would state exactly how they know this. Otherwise i t is just fake "look at me" ITK bollox and should warrant a serious neg fest or short term ban. Know one has any idea what is happening yet there are about 10 posters on here just saying "it is happening" "don't worry he will sign" etc.
when the local jouros say its close, people at the club say its close, and Sky Sports say it isnt because Mourino says hes not buying no more now (which he said last season and bought more) then i believe the local guys.
Its f**ckin on!!!!

Looking on the bright side at least we are not paying Lukaku 75k a week to sit on a beach.

Clubs can't afford to do that these days. Even the so called top clubs must be able to justify their expenditures

Certainly if Chelsea don't want Lukaku and Mourinho has never given a hint of rating him that there is no way they can afford to keep an asset like that without cashing in now.

Due to their massive expenditures and FFP putting them under real pressure.

Chelsea have actually managed FFP better than pretty much any of the other big spenders. But selling Lukaku on now that FFP has kicked in (even if not at much of a profit) is exactly in line with that strategy.

Damon that's a load of bollocks. They are under no pressure to sell an asset they don't want to and if they do feel the squeeze of FFP, they can sell a few of the thousands of players on loan to compensate.

The trick is in being able to read between the lines at clubs and see what the medium and long term trends are. Then you can read the short term trends.

e.g. Liverpool. Aston Villa. Arsenal. Newcastle. Sunderland. Man City. Man United. Spurs.

It helps knowing what the person you're competing against is going to do and where they will be in two years before they do.

No idea to who you refer but:

This article from April 2014 (and prior to the release of the Chelsea UEFA FFP review) sums it up nicely.

http://www.espnfc.com/chelsea/story...g-to-abide-by-uefas-financial-fair-play-rules

Chelsea have said they need to keep their finances under control this summer as they seek to sign the "real strikers" Jose Mourinho believes the club desperately needs.

"The football club needs to continue to balance success on the field together with the financial imperatives of this new regime."

"The combined revenue and cost savings from a major clear-out would be considerable, which they would need to be."

What is clear from Chelsea's latest accounts -- and Mourinho's repeated references to the constraints of FFP -- is that the club take, and will continue to take, the potential threat of punishment for breaching UEFA's new rules seriously."

Was a joke mate - beach rather than bench. People seem to be getting a touch too anxious about the delay in signing a guy who is currently on holiday.

FWIW am convinced that Chelsea will sell him this summer if they cannot extend his contract. Jose gets his mind set on a player (eg Mata or Casillas) and even if other people rate them them he rarely changes his mind. He also will not appreciate Rom's willingness to talk - Hazard has found that out as well and he's much more docile than Lukaku.

he was right on casillas, but i think he got it wrong with mata and will get it wrong with lukaku.

Well his mind is clearly made up on Lukaku and at least lukaku wasn't mata in some ways and publicly humilated. But Lukaku could do worse than Everton by a long stretch. Given that Martinez is on a mission for Champions League this year.

Didn't you predict Arsenal going into financial meltdown some time back though?

The whole Mata transfer sage was weird. Chelsea's top player for the past couple of seasons and basically as soon as Jose arrived there were rumours he didn't fancy him. Mata was very professional and just put his head down and tried to get back into the team but it made no difference. I can see why he might not work in a Mourinho setup though - he is not quick and doesn't really do much pressing or helping defensively. In the right system under a different manager Mata is wonderful though, would have loved him at Everton under Roberto.

Part of Mourinho's success is probably due to him having very clear ideas of how he wants to play and the players suit it. Lukaku seems to be one of those whose face doesn't fit.

how mata has different characteristics to oscar is beyond me though. they're both the same player, except oscar has a bit more age on his side, mata so much more the better player though

He works a lot harder for the team though and can play a variety of positions, still it was an awful way to treat a talent like Mata. In the later part of the season he seemed to be focusing his distain on Hazard as well with a few barbed comments, maybe we'll see a bit more of him on the bench this year I think.

Having said that I'm not a Mourinho fan.
