how mata has different characteristics to oscar is beyond me though. they're both the same player, except oscar has a bit more age on his side, mata so much more the better player though
Think Oscar is a bit more willing to help out defensively - for Brazil he was one of the players with the most tackles (at one point he had more than Macherano) - but agree Mata is the better player.

Tbh think Oscar may be joining Hazard in Jose's bad books, his performance dropped off a lot towards the end of the season.

The whole Mata transfer sage was weird. Chelsea's top player for the past couple of seasons and basically as soon as Jose arrived there were rumours he didn't fancy him. Mata was very professional and just put his head down and tried to get back into the team but it made no difference. I can see why he might not work in a Mourinho setup though - he is not quick and doesn't really do much pressing or helping defensively. In the right system under a different manager Mata is wonderful though, would have loved him at Everton under Roberto.

Part of Mourinho's success is probably due to him having very clear ideas of how he wants to play and the players suit it. Lukaku seems to be one of those whose face doesn't fit.

I think the reason Jose treated Mata like that was because he didn't want to do a Louis Van Gaal and pull his trousers down instead.

think that was the reason why, yes. but he's and ACM, surely what they do offensively should be the main contributor

Been thinking about this today , Chelsea even without Lukaku have very strong attacking options. Salah , Schurle , Torres , Costa , Hazard , Willian , etc. He's going to struggle to start every game so why would he want to stay. Let's hope we hear / see some movement next week.

Haha I'd love to see how anyone could think Arsenal would go in to financial meltdown! They, once having paid off the stadium will trounce every body on the spending stakes!

If they missed out on Champions League last year theyd of had a 40m drop in turnover and a coach who would have quit.

Not hard to see how close to financial meltdown they are without Champions League.

They could easily cope with a 40m drop in turnover. Wenger would never quit..

He was very close last season to quiting. He was forced to go and buy Ozil or there would have been a revolt.

No club can deal with a 40m drop in revenue.

FFP is all about ensuring clubs don't over extend using revenue thats not sustainable.
