Lukaku

If they missed out on Champions League last year theyd of had a 40m drop in turnover and a coach who would have quit.

Not hard to see how close to financial meltdown they are without Champions League.

Sort of like you could pick any random premiership club and say they are close to financial meltdown if only they were relegated.

Or if I left my butties on the bus I would
close to going hungry.

Arsenal had and have a sustainable business model plus shareholders who are willing to plough money into the club and the worst that would have happened would have involved them postponing the level of spending that they are currently engaged in.

Because Drogba would effectively be brought in solely as a coach with his place as an actual striker as sporadic as Giggs as player-manager - I can only think of one reason Drogba would be brought back and it'd be as a bone to prove to Lukaku they want him at the club; hoping to make him conveniently forget the £32m striker they bought as first choice a week or so ago.

If Lukaku is smart, he moves to a club that gives him first team football at a good level.

Drogba signing would be lukaku gone imo, it would mean Costa no1 with Drogba/torres off the bench and in for cup games

Remember Jose said no more incomings...If Drogba signs its my honest belief its to plug the gap left by Rom.

As far as I see it, its very much up to Rom. A deal is there to be finalised by both Everton and Chelsea. I said last week things will get going on Friday and they did.BIG TIME.
Dominic King, Bascombe, McNulty and the Echo all put out stories within 48 hours of it. Chelsea respond using Sky sources and vague non committal comments from their assistant coach.

Its part of the politics of a high profile transfer. If Rom has decided to sign for Everton I would expect stories of either rejected a new deal (which is on the table as of Saturday) or a transfer request very soon. Then its game set and match. I honestly think by this Friday we will know one way or the other.
Which is a bugger personally for me as I am on my jollies from Thursday all being well.

Wouldn't - would mean Costa, Torres and Lukaku as Mourinho's favoured three strikers that he always has, with Drogba as basically a coach who'll get minutes in meaningless cup games in the League Cup or CL group stages.

If true, it increases the chances of Lukaku staying at Chelsea.
The reverse would be the reality imo.

Drogba won't want to spend his last playing season sat on his arse. His arrival would effectively see Lukaku drop to fourth choice striker in a side that plays with 1 up top.

There's no way he's going to hang around with that prospect ahead of him imo.

Am I alone in being in a 'take it or leave it' mindset?

I'd love Lukaku to sign, but if he doesn't, it's not the end of the world. There are other strikers out there, equal to and better than Lukaku. Especially for the reported £20m it would cost.

I've never really been a fan of reluctant signees. If you've been at a club for a year, and we've made you feel really welcome and you've generally played well, if you don't want to jump at the chance of signing for Everton Football Club, then I'm not really arsed about you. You're clearly not really arsed about me, or the club I love. People panicking as if he's the only striker in the world we can sign.... Until deadline day last September, nobody even had a clue he was signing for us.

Then we could get Lukaku back on loan and can spend the warchest on another quality striker eg Bacca and winger eg Perisic.

Still think there is an issue between Lukaku and Jose and he'll get sold at latest in Jan window.
I wouldn't want him back on loan. Time to return the faith we have in him. May be an element of cutting off my nose to spite my face though

No.

Arsenal HAVE to make a 30million profit a season to fund the stadium debts. Primarily this has been coming from Champions league revenue.

The fact they again made Champions league with the new tv deal does take the pressure off.

But again. They were close at points to having major problems in their budgets and "loan defaults". The lender had first priority on arsenals profits. Plus PENALTIES for not meeting repayments.

Again. The situation is similar with Chelsea now.

Chelsea have a pressure from FFP. To sell Lukaku to Everton.

Those that doubt this are sticking their heads in the sand.

Id be surprised if Drogba signed for Chelsea knowing he would be 4th choice striker, with a bare bit part role.

Haven't Juve offered him a two year deal?
