Lukaku

If we were loaded I'd be happy for us to pay £25m. In our financial situation we should be looking to get him for about £20m (plus a twix).

@Tree13 wrote that hes scored 31 in 65 games. This alone is worth 30mil.

Then factor in his age and potential to hit huge numbers consistently over the next decade.

One thing no one has commented on is that the sum of a team should be greater than its parts and in Stones, McCarthy and Barkley we have three outstanding young talents with others such as Ledson coming through but we have lacked a goalscorer since Yakubu then Kanchelskis and Rideout many years ago.

Lukaku, to us is priceless and if we got him he'd soon be worth Bale/Ronaldo money.

No he won't mate.

He has the touch of Max Clifford for a start.

I think this will be a very complicated deal tbh. I don't think it will be as simple as his price is £25 now come on who's gonna pay it!?!?

Now for a start Chelsea payed 12.5m for him with 5M in add ons. Which id be very suprised they have triggered yet. They also bought him with the future in mind.

I think a deal around £15M stacked with add-ons and most importantly for Chelsea a buy back option on him would suit all parties and seal a deal.

the newspaper speculation when Chelsea signed him was that they signed him for 18-20 million and its hard to see chleski selling him go at a loss, especially when there appears to be more than a few clubs after him.

Bony the penalty taking extraordinaire one season wonder?

He's a very good all round player. He's a natural goalscorer but a workhorse as well (which as far as I've seen Lukaku isn't).

I'd rather Lukaku (like I said) but Bony is an alternative, as is Hernandez...

If Jose decides he wants him to be the main man at Chelsea next year then we can forget it. Even if they do want to sell him, if Lukaku has a really good World Cup then we can also forget it. I personally think getting CL football was the only way we had a chance of getting him. There are other forwards around who could get 15 goals a season for us. Difference is in 5 years time lukaku will probably be a 25 goal a season striker!

Would be great if we could get him for 17-20 million but I can't really see that happening. There are plenty of teams who can afford to pay over the odds for him. How much can Everton afford to pay??? That's the issue-not how much he is worth.

He won't go for anything less than 25 million, and that's what we will have to pay to get him. He is the same age as Barkley and has a far superior goal scoring record.

The future would look very bright if we signed Lukaku and kept our other young star players.

The club have to look at it as an investment, esp with his age and experience already.

Obviously if we never made top4 with him he'd soon be off but im sure we'd make a brilliant profit from it and atleast we will always guarantee to be a threat on goal! Always!

Only problem with the big lad is cover, needs rest and competition for places. Some strikers need confidence to be scoring, lukaku just needs some competitiveness from other strikers! Thrives off it..

I would pay what we can for him, probably 20-25m, he's got everything to be a great striker for years to come. Hopefully if we get lucky injury wise with four fit strikers, (Kone, Naismith, Traore again on loan and Lukaku) we'll be able to rotate and rest Lukaku. Think he looked great early on, but when he had to play 90 minutes every game he began to tire and we didn't get the best from him.

Can anyone see us spending such a large percentage if not all of our transfer kitty on one player. CL was essential to this deal, the loan system has been very good to us, but it has left us in a situation where we need to sped 20+ million just to stand still and I just can't see us spending it all on one, I would snap your hands off if we started next season with the exact squad we ended with, but with Lukaku and Barry being Permanents. Then maybe add another loan onto Delofeu and Traore.
