considering how much the RS paid for Carroll

this is a bargain
It's not a bargain, but strikers are valued using a different price sheet than other players.

If any of the 'rich' clubs paid £28m for him, would anyone in the media even blink? Utd paid £30m+ for a teenaged left back ffs!

WOW !
With respect, how many starts did all these guys get? If anyone has a chart that lists the games as well, then we could really see this in its proper perspective.

Rom's had 2 years out on loan with plenty of starts. I know Moyes held Rooney back a little...that's where I'm coming from. :o)

I reckon Rom should do a mock Mr Motivator dance in front of the chelsea bench when he scores against them at goodison!!

someone get him an illuminous green headband quick

just to comment that a lot of fans are taken it as a given that this move means we will have success.
im not trying to be a downer on the situation , but we still have to be cautious . nothing is guaranteed .
we have some good ingredients now and a mighty fine chef cooking them up for us, put the proof of the pudding is in the eating. rom and every player in the squad has to be as good as they can be individually and as a team this season to earn success.
theres still work to be done.

£28 million is really not a bad price.

How much would you want for Ross? Or Stones?

Lukaku's potential may not be quite as high but it's up there and he's a striker. A striker that scores loads of goals in the Premier League. And he's 21.
Think about it this way. If we were selling him, and not buying him, would you be happy with getting a £28m fee? I wouldn't.

I think his potential as high as either to be honest.
Which is very important in and of itself. The way Barkley and Stones have been hyped recently, they must have felt like they need to carry the team individually. It's hard to develop with that sort of pressure.

Lukaku's presence in the team diffuses the spotlight a bit, each of those players are now part of a big class of promising youngsters, they don't have as much individual pressure to be the next Everton legend.

Good point, Stones, Barkley, Oviedo, and McCarthy let alone the actual youth players coming through can all play free of concern, pressure really is purely on Lukaku now because of his transfer fee, and I reckon he'll thrive off it.

Yer I agree, it's pressure Rom is used to, he transferred to Chelsea for £18mil when he was 18.

I am not big on singing songs but I have one buzzing in my head

Lui Lui Romelu
LUI LUI ROMELU
LUI LUI ROMELU

It needs to be sung louder each line to the tune of the old nursery rhyme Skip to the Lou
If its [Poor language removed] or been sung before Im sure you will tell me.Or if anybody can expand on it
