I agree, there is no point criticizing him , he is quite hard on himself already

Valid constructive critism is fine, posting the same tired rubbish when it's clearly not true just make people look stupid and agenda driven. Yesterday there was nothing particularly bad or poor about his touch or movement and he certainly didn't have a bad game, he did make one awful pass that lead to their goal obviously but you can't judge a whole games performance on an isolated incident like that.

Like you say seemingly he's his own biggest critic, and after that his peers will be hard on him at times so he'll be fully aware of what's going right or wrong for himself during and after a game not people repeatedly posting the same false assessments of him after every performance.

hes still so young, i dont think there is a younger striker leading the line for any PL club, hes gona get better, hes playing uncomfortably and not confidently, but! hes 4 in 7 so, thats more than good enough, i think he needs like 2-3 goals in a game and his confidence will be right back

lemme just quote this again and people still think he is gash Christ on a bike he will probably be our first player to score 100 goals since sharpy

Well said but the clowns on here who gushed over the 50 offsides per match the great jelavic committed during his 0 goal in 309 matches still arnt happy!

You would think we were title challengers the way some of our fans expect world class players

Barring their goal, his touch was great yesterday. If you watch the first 20 minutes especially, he kept doing nice little one touch passes.

Thought his head might drop after he messed up for their goal but he showed the perfect attitude in wanting to correct his error and he did just that so fair play to him.

I still firmly believe he's an absolute monster.

This thing about his age really puzzles me,most eight year olds can trap a ball, but then again if he keeps scoring and we keep winning................

The backlash on Twitter towards him when Burnley scored was shocking.

Hilarious though, to watch those tweets deleted after he netted.

Clowns.

.....I appreciate he can be frustrating, he's a big lump of a lad and can also look clumsy. His back to goal play has got to improve, not only because he's our 'out ball' and he needs to keep hold of it but also so he can link with others. The basic error yesterday led to their goal, yet he did a sublime lay off in the lead up to one of ours. Perhaps he's not always concentrating 100% on the delivery when it appears straightforward.

His touch will improve, it usually does as you get older. I'm happy with him but he's clearly not the finished article. Imagine what he could be like. I'm reminded that Jamie Carragher openly realised it was time to retire after he faced him. Keep the faith.

I love the lad. I'm delighted we have him and I think he'll go on to become one of our greatest ever forwards. Touch is poorish atm but alongside Sammy he can only get better. Bags of potential, bags of goals. When was the last time we had that up front? His price tag means he's an easy target, it's just a shame that some of us are the ones who have him in their sights. Will be huge player for us in the next few seasons. I really believe that, and honestly, if he's still scoring despite the odd mare, I'm happy.

Where's @NEC ? I thought he'd be having a field day today with Lukaku's mistake.

yeah cos thats whats important isn't it... being proved right even if it costs the team? - seriously.

Having an opinion that goes against the grain of hero worshipping a player doesn't mean I don't want him to succeed - it is vital that he does.

It just appears too many fans believe that having a poor touch doesn't really matter - it clearly does. That type of mistake is going to keep occurring until he really addresses his poor control/touch.

As it happens we managed to win the game, Rom isn't the only player to make mistakes - they all do. Its just that his mistake is likely to happen again till he polishes up his overall game.

Agree 100%

A young bloke, not been playing well, makes a horrendous error and a goal results from it.

A lesser lid might have withdrawn into his shell and hid from the ball after that.

Rom did not.....he showed great mental fortitude and kept his head up.

And he got his reward with a goal.
