Agree 100%

A young bloke, not been playing well, makes a horrendous error and a goal results from it.

A lesser lid might have withdrawn into his shell and hid from the ball after that.

Rom did not.....he showed great mental fortitude and kept his head up.

And he got his reward with a goal.
Good point K, he's not playing well ATM but he's not hiding
Fair play to the lad

People need to realise we have it very good atm with Rom and eto'o the sense of entitlement that some of our fans have developed over the past year or so is laughable we ain't barca ffs

I think yesterday will prove to be a really good exercise for him for the rest of his career. Mistakes happen, but it is how you respond to them that
counts. Having Eto'o on the pitch was huge. I am sure he gave him a little pep talk. All the best players do not dwell on errors, but try and even them up when the next opportunity arrives.

He could really do with being mentored by Eto'o - Sam looks the type of lad who will share his knowledge with his team mates - he just demands respect. Some of the play yesterday was just class, effortless - his movement and anticpation is second only to his nonchalent finishing.

Technically the best striker I've seen in an Everton shirt, Saha was awesome at times, Eto's look awesome most of the time. - That header was ridiculous.

Rom can be a great, but it will take the likes of Eto'o and big Dunc to get the best out of him.

I think playing the two together can only help Rom to learn and improve on the job
Eto'o was the world's greatest #9 and he looked a lot like a hell of a # 10 yesterday
Rom is a bright boy, he will learn
Maybe a few lessons from Sami on killing the ball would be a good place to start :)

One player Martinez will be hoping will learn from Eto'o is striker Romelu Lukaku, who made a mistake in the build-up to Burnley's goal but who remains an 'exceptional' prospect for the manager.

Martinez said: "Football is a game of errors and they're going to happen. Moments where the ball bounces wrongly or you make a wrong decision, and it happened in the goal we gave away.

"You can imagine he was disappointed but that happens. What pleases me more is that from that moment on he would have never stopped until he got us back in the lead.

"He got a knock on his toe and he wasn't fully fit but he wanted to stay on the pitch as long as he could. The opposition always marks him well but the way he's growing at such a young age, he's going to be an exceptional footballer."

I think it would be amazing if along with his 2 year contract if Sami could be interested in coaching as a long term project at Goodison
I wonder is he in love with the club yet, looks like he is?

Romelu Lukaku says he feels "blessed" to be working alongside strike partner Samuel Eto'o at Everton. "He's a world class player. He's scored so many goals throughout his career and I've been blessed to be working with him," he said.

"I spend most of the time with him. I come in at the same time as he does, I leave at the same time. We do everything together on and off the pitch as well. "In training we have a finishing competition and the one who loses has to do sprints.
We see each other quite often. He comes to my house, I go to his house. I try to learn as much as I can from him and he tells me stories about how he worked when he was younger."

Lukaku has not been short of senior figures to learn from during his time in England and he has set his sights on making a name of his own that will rival the very best. "Samuel has the same impact as (Didier) Drogba and (Nicolas) Anelka had on me when I was younger at Chelsea," he said "In that aspect I think I've been blessed to work with top strikers like them. I hope to be one of them in the future."

Maybe he should wear one of those huge protective shoes as that toe is getting a bit of abuse

Wow that's fantastic news, glad they get on as Rom will learn so much from the smiling assassin :)

I agree. The problem is that we watch every second of Rom's play with the intensity of a million suns, and then just check out the score sheet or the highlights to see what other strikers have done. Because of this, we miss the fact that Rooney/Van Persie et al looked like garbage for 88 minutes while also scoring 2 goals. Strikers by design tend to look poor. They don't get a lot of touches, and when they do, its in low percentage/high reward types of plays where 99% of the time it doesn't come off and the player looks poor because of it.

Berahino has 7 so I'd say he's done better so far but I'm not sure he can keep it up because of how poor West Brom can be. Rom could realistically be top 5 in the league this season

That is the truly mindboggling thing because Evertonians have no excuse for it.

Having lived through non-slotting Jeligol, Saha, Cahill up front, the tail end of the Yak years, Beattie, that Canadian lid, Joe-Max Moore, Madar, Mo Johnstone and various other horrors the idea that some of us would show anything other than momentary annoyance to a (edit) 21/22 year old striker who has a goal every other game strike rate, when he isnt playing well, baffles me. We know what isnt good enough, and he emphatically isnt that at all.
