It seems like it would be a simple way to defend against tho, get up close to him, let him crouch, quickly move away, he falls over, no?

Don't be so ridiculously knee jerky. He's got two weeks at least. No mate, if he's not the best striker in the world by next week then we may as well sell him to make glue.

At the same age as Rom is now, in an easier league, Bony got 12 goals. I love Wilf as I'm sure you can tell, but we have a more natural talent in Lukaku, it's whether or not he can refine his game and offer more to the team than just his goals. As it is he's a bloody massive poacher, in time you'd hope he rounds his game. We paid what we paid as a gamble to see if he can. So we should at least give him the time to see if he does.I think the question to that one is "who has got the most to learn?" - the answer is Rom.
It is fair to say that at the same age Bony was scoring many goals in a decent league for Vitesse - 46 in 65 appearances. Has he learned since then? Of course he will have done. I'm surprised Bony is still at Swansea to be honest, with better players around him he will be a 20 goal a season striker IMO, very good hold up play and links well with sigurdsson.
look at the improvements in players such as bale and ramsey in the premier leagus from early to mid twenties..if he can do anywhere near that level in improvement he will be incredible

However, the former Chelsea forward has still scored four goals and now feels ready to start on a spree which will help the ninth-placed Toffees climb the table.
“The first two months I was injured but I wanted to play because my team mates needed me,” he says. “It was an experience for me, for the future. I tried to help them but I wasn’t 100% so I couldn’t be as dangerous as I wanted.
“I’d taken a knock in training. The tendon underneath my toe was shut down completely and the joint on top badly bruised.
“I couldn’t push off to sprint because the tendon would almost explode. I had to have three injections before the Arsenal game and then the same against Chelsea. It was difficult for me because I’m a runner. That’s a big part of my game.
“Once you lose your main quality it gives you a real challenge.
“I needed to play more as a target man because I’m tall and very strong. But nowadays in football you need pace. Defenders are so quick; guys like Sylvain and Jags - when I spring against them in training onto balls down the channels it’s difficult for me and them.
“I’ve always been a player who is about movement, making runs all day long. I will do everything I can to always stay like that. “So now I’m 100%. There are exciting weeks ahead for me. “I’ve been training well and scored two in the last three games. I feel well.”
I don't think Eto'o was considered fit enough to make anything other than sub appearances, they were worried about a hamstring tweak at one point as well iirc.So pleased to read this article on so many levels. as usual Everton's policy to keep everyone in the dark over players injury status has us all guessing, about this player and that player. I don't think any of us new the extent of this injury, and the question has to asked why was he starting games when we have two forwards in decent form. I have been quite outspoken about Rom's performances especially the man utd game, but I also said if someone from the club could show a physical or mental reason why Rom was showing a lack of enthusiasm/fight I would apologise to him and all on the Lukaku thread. So sorry Rom and sorry to all the Lukaku posters, I am really excited to read what he say's here and If big dunc can get him to beast a centre back or 2 happy days.

Rom might have been rested a bit more if Ross hadn't had his injury as Naismith could have played as striker. Suppose we could have used Osman as the #10 but not sure that would have been a great idea against Chelsea especially.
Ross was rushed back from his broken toe for the Liverpool game last season, also having to have injections, seems a little odd as you say given how careful he tries to be with some other injuries.I always thought our managers approach to injuries was very cautious he is forever going on about overloading players coming back from injury and seems really switched on with regards getting people 100% before they start playing again, yet he lets Rom play with what it now seems to be quite a debilitating injury. I guess it shows the high regard the manager has for Rom and a bit of what said in your post L L
