haha i'd forgotten i'd had that battle with him. origi was pretty anonymous in both games when he was up against tony hibbert - a man known to evertonians as getting ripped apart by every pacey winger in the world - jefferson montero has had one good game in his swansea career.

origi couldn't even help his team score 1 goal in 180 mins against a weak and understrength defence ... much more of the finished article than lukaku eh @NEC?

I shouldn't really post on the Lukaku fanboy thread... Saying Origi looks to be a very good player in the making is like going on an Apple forum and saying the latest Samsung phone looks great.

The latest iPhone may have some bugs and issues that needs sorting out but you do not go on the Apple forum and give a balanced opinion. It's just daft, the fanboys go crazy and launch on you like a pack of wolves. they do not want to hear that the phone they've just signed up for a 24 month contract needs patches and fixes.... It just can't happen!

Best just sticking to taking the piss out of kone and McGeady, say cheese on toast, Kone camels and all that sort of stuff. Watch those rep points go up and feel a real sense of achievement.

True. I jus meant to say that they are different types of player, so it's no use comparing them. If your team already has a slotter or a scoring midfield, Origi might be your type of striker. Otherwise, Lukaku's the obvious choice. Both are stil exceptionally young for strikers and already show great maturity.

Oh, absolutely. Got your point, lid. Just my personal preference. I'm not an arguer...lol

If what Lukaku said is true, and this was the first time all year we've seen him truly fit, I have a feeling he is going to go on a massive run of goalscoring form.

I hope so.

Imagine that. Slotting 1 or 2 every few games would be ideal.

Well...slotting a hat-trick every game would be IDEAL.

They are two completely different players. Lukaku will never be able to do what Origi is capable of (his technique is brilliant); but Origi will never slot goals as easily as Lukaku does. It depends what kind of striker you need in your team, I guess.

This is what I don't get. Completely blinkered fans. We all want Lukaku to be a "beast" - most ridiculous description I've heard for such a tame striker. He looks a beast when you see him celebrate a goal. He could be a beast if he gets some aggression in his play.

He had a good game the other night - a good game. Not exceptional, there were a few ahead of him for motm.

The fear of him not living up to expectations is creating some ridiculous appraisals when he just has a decent game. He had a game where his control and passing was better but for some reason it seems to have gone unnoticed that he did lose possession for this reason a number of times. It's just that his work rate was so much more and the teamwas fluent.

Origi is going to be a player. Anyone who can't see that already is daft. He plays at pace with his head up, has tremendous control and skill which is why he is played out wide. For a 19 year old to play like that is very good.

I agree Rom is a better penalty box operator. If he had Origis technical game he would be complete. And there is the difference.

I think you underestimate Lukaku's skills. With big players like him things tend to look more clumsy than they are. Origi on the other hand has flair and style. But I'm afraid he will never be a great slotter of goals.
For the Belgians it would be great if the two of them had a child together that combined Origi's technical skills and Lukaku's scoring abilities. :)

Lukaku doesn't need to be skillful, he just needs to learn how to use his physique better. He can keep the ball too far from a defender and remain better rooted if he takes the ball side on or lower himself. He has a bad habit of standing square and tall to the ball, he's 6ft 4 and it only takes a good nudge in his back to knock him over his centre of balance.

His game the other night had some hallmarks of big Duncan and that can only be a good thing. But he is far from being where he needs to be and people are getting way ahead of things.

Origi reminds me of Sturridge, stronger with more skill.

Something Eto'o has is spades! long may they continue to train togther.

Agreed, he's tiny in comparison, just authority and confidence that he knows the ball is going no where. Naismith the other night gave a masterclass in bullying players bigger than you. It's in the head.

Origi was turbo gash mate.

I watched a lot of hi lights of Origi for Lille and he plays both channels, but seems to his better work on the right. I can only think they fancied him against Hibbo and swapped him over, which was great for us because Hibbo was always gonna stay at home and it allowed bainsey the whole game to rampage forward without looking over his shoulder all the time. Hibbo was ace and he also had jags coming round on the cover with his pace plus Mc geady did so much work back tracking, just a great triangle of defending from our lads. Lets hope origi is saving himself for the Germans.

i'm sorry mate, i don't rate your opinion on football matters. i've said origi looks like a good player in the making, i just don't think he has that end product, saw it throughout the WC and in both games vs us, he always got in good positions but didn't create anything.

got nothing to do with toeing the line, got nothing to do with one playing for liverpool and one playing for everton, everyone worth their salt knows lukaku is a better player, more of a finished article etc.

i just don't know what you base your views on, noboody on here agrees with you and i doubt many people in the world bar kopites will agree with you. go and compare both of their careers so far, their stats, their achievements, their personal hauls, literally everything. unless you count "origi started more games in the WC" as an achievement.

if you had an ounce of anything to back your opinion up then fair enough

Whether origi turns out to be a top class player is to a degree irrelevant. He's not our player so I don't really care, the fact that I believe him to be a class player in the making will benefit Liverpool so I don't wish to be correct.

I'm not bothered whether or not you rate my opinion. I played at a decent enough level and been going to matches over 30 years and I am comfortable in knowing what I know. a

To draw a line under this whole Lukaku love in. He is going to attract a lot of attention rightly or wrongly because of the hype and the fee. The younger fans have been given their supposed super striker and with that comes expectations and being under the microscope. He is getting a lot of support and defence which he is going to need, but to say he's as good already as many are making out is daft.

If he keeps improving the fundamentals which I can't believe he's been allowed to progress without, gets more focussed and aggressive then he really does have a chance. But there is a way to go, a fair way. Sorry to piss people off but the ridiculous "beast" comments and complete forward nonsense is just daft.
