If you pay the 20m yourself Everton can spend their money elsewhere, thank you.I'd pay up to 20M myself, so young with so much potential, could be revelation.
Not a penny more though, especially with Bony about...
He is not worth more than 20 and I dont think I would even like us spendng that on him if im honest.
Put it this way. Name me another young striker that has proved his worth in the Prem and has the presence and ability of Rom?
Exactly.
No player under 21 has registered more goals and assists in EUROPE's top 5 leagues this season than Romelu Lukaku.
I've changed my mind. I'd pay up to 25m
Lukaku has certain attributes which make him a 15-20 million player. He scores a good tally of goals, strength and can run at defenders. Perfect for the PL really.
He has other weaknesses which mean he's not in the 20million+ bracket of stickers. Poor control, no vision, loses the ball often. You don't develop vision or control with age.
From a Chelsea point of view, they can't afford, at CL level to have a guy like this. This is why they don't want him. Which is is fair enough.
He's a top end PL striker but he's never going to be worth 30 odd million to the top European sides who have that kind of money. This idea that strikers get better with age is a bit of a myth. They tend to get worse. It's a dangerous idea to value him based on some future projection.
I'd definitely take him, with his flaws for 15-20m though.
Some valid good points in there, I tend to agree with you. One thing I'll say is strikers normally hit there peak 24-28 as a yardstick but it also seems determined by what age they burst onto the scene at. Most players could have between 12-20 years at the very top and this is normally where the decline starts, just my opinion of course.
