No service, fans on his back constantly, media criticizing him at every opportunity, broken toe for many months, best mate dies, you imagine what you'd feel like if all that happened to you in the space of a few months at the age of 21. Don't know abar yous but my head would be shot.

Yet he still broke 20 goals for the season, only been done once in a decade or so for us (europa goals count you bad gang of biffs)

Spot on, you have nailed it here.

Yet because of what he costs, somehow all this should not matter !?!

Still, it's not quite the same as suggesting that it's unusual for a Premier League striker to score ten goals in three consecutive seasons.

There seems to be a high turnover of forwards at the moment, but in recent memory there have more than a few non-elite (in terms of price) players managing to do it. Keane, Defoe, Bellamy, Giroud, Benteke, Bent, Cisse, McCarthy and Ba all spring to mind.
Defoe never managed 10 PL goals 3 years in a row

Nor Bellamy

Giroud has but his overall total is slightly worse than Lukaku

Benteke has with a slightly better goal tally

Bent didn't manage it

Nor Cisse

Nor McCarthy

So apart from from Beneteke and Giroud, who aren't much different than Rom depite being older, there are very few - it is just a hard thing to do even as a mature good striker in a top team let alone with the service Rom has got.

He was very poor last season, but so was 90% of the squad, its wrong to put the blame fully on him, yes a lot of the time he had the worlds bounciest shins and yes, at times, he looked lazy, a poor season, im sure he wasnt happy with his overall goals return, part of the problem is El Fraudos desire to turn him into the type of striker hes not.

I mean "improving" his game will help his long term game without question, but at the end of the day, surely Martinez has known from day 1 we were a stepping stone, he must know if we continue to fail to get CL football he will want away, so why bother trying to improve him, play to his freaking strengths.

His agent is an utter snake, no doubt he has rang every club in the top 10 of the world and told them hes available, thankfully hes tied to long term contract and our initial "investment" protects us from him going on the cheap.

Its gonna be a long summer lads.

We have a very talented squad of players, I would be worried if people didnt want some of them, Lukaku is defo on peoples lists, lets hope we can keep hold of him, cos we waited a long time for a striker who can score goals on the regs.

Amen to "very poor" strikers who score 20 goals in a season for us.

Stats are helpful, when you dont get the chance to see them week in week out.

Take his goal scoring record in insolation and its a decent return.

Compare it to lessers strikers, who scored more goals and it starts to look bad, then compare his goals to games ratio and it looks even worse.

Then factor in how he played in some games and he had a poor season.

Hahahaha. I don't miss a game you fat whelk and if you class a striker who scored 20 goals as having a "very poor season" then you're utterly clueless.

Im aware you didnt miss a game my Friend.

That was my point, you watched every game he played, which negates the need to rely on solely stats.

And I didnt say he was a poor striker, he had a poor season, theres a massive difference in both those comments.
It was a poor season for the whole team - without his goals {Lukarku} we may have been in a bad relegation battle - Hull could not score look what happened to them! as for Kone we need to get rid asap!
We need a good back up striker never mind dreaming of losing Lukarku!
