Lukaku's Everton Frustration

Get the impression he genuinely cares and would have committed if we had shown we had the ability to kick on like Man City did.
But city were fortunate that ffp was brought in to counter what they did not hinder it like it is now doing for other owners who may have the funding to do a city.
Sadly we are 3 or more seasons behind lukakus ambitions and financially probably the same time in being able to attract the players he knows we need and that will take us to we're he wants to be and we're he wants us to be playing.

Can't really blame him or berate him sadly we're a few years apart in ambitions and timescales I wish him well just hope he gets a winner across the park as a parting gift

I don't for a second believe he's playing anyone here or "slamming" the club any more than they deserve. He's saying the exact same thing he was 4 years ago. "While I'm here I will work hard and play my best, but I want to play for a team in the CL or a team with genuine ambition to get there, so if we're not doing that, obviously I will want to go". The only difference now to 4 years ago is that now he's every inch a CL player.

He's explaining his not signing the contract by pointing out something we all know: we're not really close to qualifying for the CL or showing genuine ambition to. A tiny net spend on players like Gueye, Williams and Bolasie in the summer followed by a decent if unspectacular January where we pass up the chance to improve the squad further isn't going to cut it.

It's up to the club to convince him we're serious now, although it might be too late. They should and will now see that they can't keep players of Lukaku's calibre without backing up their words with action and keeping promises. If they've been overselling our ambitions and their capacity to meet them, there'll be no hiding it after this summer if Lukaku's gone and we haven't spent big.

The only thing is City signed Robinson in 2008 and won the FA Cup in 2011. It's not lIke it was 1 year and we've shown progress in our first season spending. This is all to gain sympathy

I think he's bang on with what he says, because I want that same ambition, but what you said is exactly what went through my head too. We could have possibly done what city did but it would still have taken patience.

Then on the flip of the coin, lukaku needs to see realism too. We were trying to but witsel, Carvalho, mata, gabbidiani, brahimi, koulibaly etc if reports are led to be believed but we're not quite there yet in terms of attracting these players.

The game has also changed to stop doing what city did as well, but I have no issue with his comments, I was fairly disappointed with our summer dealings, I thought we had a lot more to do. But we can use this summer to put it right and get in some big names using Europe as a pull as well, but we need to show ambition, a name like rooney would show that tbf.

In all seriousness he's said nothing wrong.

Just none of this needed saying or doing now.

Melts. Mainly his agent.

But who knows what's went on, what's going on, and what's likely to happen in the summer. Maybe it has been a disaster off the field. Maybe there have been huge cock ups.

Basically we don't know. Maybe it is bad timing and simply to orchestrate a move like I suspect. Or maybe it's a fair account of what is going on and did need to be said publicly to ensure this summer is different. I'm not sure exactly myself.

Rom has played a blinder here. He has killed three birds with one stone. He has justified why he is leaving, he has issued a public 'come and get me' to other clubs as well as diverting the fans anger away from him and towards the board.

The implication here is that he has somehow masterminded this.

I may be the naive one now but I honestly thing it's not that calculated. He was at a club endorsed public event and was asked questions to which he responsed honestly.

I really don't think the fans opnion of him matters that much that we would want to play public relations and I cannot think of another player where a "come and get me" is not required.

I still think this could go either way.
