Lukaku's Everton Frustration

Everything he says is right. He was obviously asked to stay on the basis that we would bring in top quality. That didn't happen, so he's got reservations about extending his contract.

He's a winner, this isn't about getting a better deal. He wants to win trophies - the board are going to have a tough time negotiating a deal now.

If all our players had his attitude to winning, we would win the league.
Nothing wrong with it imo and its what drives the top players.
Basically:
I want to win things, I am good enough to win things, build a team in which I can win things and I will win things in it with you, don't and I'll go somewhere good enough that if I play well I can win things.

What's the issue?

Simple because he should not say that yesterday. He can say what he wishes in May. Just hope it will not affect our momentum in these 10 games.

It was a club approved interview at a club event. The PR man was even next to Rom during that interview where he said he hasn't any intentions on signing a deal to Belgium tv.

Its a game.

Semi final stood out for me, also big games doesn't have to be about winning, it could be from the POV I mentioned earlier, like when a team has a 'make or break' game during a poor run. Such as we have lost our last three games, lose this week and we are out of the top 4 race ! In that example we need a player like Romelu to score at least two or three goals in a game to stop the rot. A £70m player does this, Romelu doesn't do it on his own, he plays well when the team plays well, top players can drag their teams through tough spells.

In relation to the games about winning such as cup quarter finals and such, the one gripe I have always had is Romelu shows up in them games infront of the TV crews for himself. A shop window if you like, sometimes this can be a detriment to the team as he tries to go on solo runs when a simple pass would be the better option. Best example would be to compare Cahill to Romelu, you had the feeling cahill was always about the team, Romelu is all about himself.
Oh I see!

You want him to score in games like the one against West Ham when we'd gone 5 games without a win after a good start and he...scored. Or the one against Leicester over Christmas where we'd only won 1 of our last 7 and had just lost to Liverpool and he...scored. Maybe the one against City, coming off the back of our FA Cup exit where he scored again? You probably thought he should score in that game against West Ham in his first season when we'd lost 3 of our last 4 and our top 4 hopes were wobbling and the stupid bottler scored the winner, setting us off on a 7 game winning streak that electrified us all for a while.

The type of player you're describing doesn't exist. Gerrard is often held up as that sort of talisman but when he had the league in his grasp, he fell over and gave it away. Suarez is one of the best in the world, but when Liverpool really needed him in that run in, he only scored 3 in the last 8 games. Nobody can argue that Aguero isn't one of the best around, but how many times has he dragged City through to the latter stages of the CL? Where was Costa when Chelsea were in the bottom half last year, or Rooney when Moyes was at United? None of those are top players clearly, because they can't single handedly drag their teams to the places they need to be.

Did the interviewer just go "SAY IT"?

Seriously though, heavy comments about the board letting the team down with signings. Not far off how a lot of us felt in the summer. He actually probably knows what he's talking about as well.

The bit about Kompany shows how out of touch he is with the way things actually work though.

Liked to see him describe the last ten games as ten finals. He's lying to himself about being up for it every match though, we have all seen him phone one in before.

Get off his back.

We should applaud him for saying it as it is.

Get the cash out and buy players if you want to keep Rom. Yes we are improving, but it is time for the club to decide where they want to go now. They have a top class striker who is making his feelings clear. Give him answers or lose him...It is that simple.

Well said sir

Out of the players you have mentioned they have probably each played over 300 games and the examples you have given are probably the only times in which they have hit a dodgy spell.

Romelu is far more inconsistent in his all round play than any of those names mentioned. My whole point in this debate is that we have waited for two years to see Romelu have a season like this one, now he has hit a good season he wants out. Why doesn't he give Moshiri at least two years to see if we can mount a challenge at the top four ? Players these days have one good spell and demand a move, even if the previous four years have been poor. That is my gripe with Romelu on this one.

If you don't like to take my point on board then ask yourself this:

If rumours are true that the 0.01% holding this deal up is the haggling between the buy out clause of £70/90m, then given Romelu thinks he is so good, why doesn't he sign and say, you know what I will be worth £90m one day if I keep my performances up !

Instead he wants £70m clause because maybe he or his agent realise that he isn't the £90m superstar many perceive him to be ?

Just a thought like, just a opinion.

Simple because he should not say that yesterday. He can say what he wishes in May. Just hope it will not affect our momentum in these 10 games.

So we can spend 4 years questoning his loyalty, workrate, commitment and ability but he can only speak in summer months?
Honest i am not implying this is you but some members round here have the emotions of a teenage girl.

On what planet have the past 4 seasons been poor? You have some seriously ridiculous standards if you're not happy with 20 goals a season EVERY season. Yes he's improving, is that surprising? You think he should have been the finished article at 20?

Your point makes no sense, Aguero's only ever had 1 bad spell in his career, and it's every time he plays in the Champions League? Interesting definition of spell. Gerrard had one bad spell in his career and it prevented him from winning the league in his 15 years playing? How unfortunate for that one little blip to happen at the exact moment his entire career was taking place.

I'm not saying he's a £90m superstar, that he's the best in the world or the best we've ever had, I'm simply saying that some of the criticisms of him are ridiculous and come across as sour grapes. He scores consistently, in big games and everyday games. To claim otherwise is simply not true, as has been shown with examples. He is a good player who has some limitations, and areas for improvement. I hope we can keep him, and I don't see why we can't, at least for one more year, although you'd have to question whether it's worth it, seeing as he's been rubbish for 3/4 of his time here.
