Lukaku's Everton Frustration

He's got a point has Rom - he's probably had big names whispered softly in his ear, yet none have arrived.

There are two possible scenarios going on here:

He's engineering a move, deflecting anger onto the board

....or....

He's playing his hand - sign big in the summer or I'm off (hence the contract refusal)

Only time will tell which one it is.

Either way, Moshiri has to show that ambition during the summer - time to deliver the quality signings the squad needs. Do whatever he needs to do - lock Bill and Bob in the basement and bring in his own people. But I really do think the fanbase will start to lose faith if we have a summer like the last one. Over to you Farhad.

Start to lose faith? If we have another summer like that, I really hope there's sustained massive protests as soon as that window shuts, as it means we're ran by a fraudulent asset stripper.

I have to say he is 100% right and the board - particularly the previous regime - of this club have continuously been like a golf club enjoying the meal/wine/game etc etc but not working on the primary objective..

Everything sounds pretty true, he didn't dis his teammates nor the club - he wants to not be let down. We didn't get Witsel for example and there were others..

So come on everyone at the club get this matter settled and get some players in - I think Rom wants to sign a new contract but the issues, addressed politely, also need to be sorted.

He'd have a trophy if he didn't botch the semi final for us. Never his fault though us it. Go and play at a team where you just tap in the 4th mate and they pick the trophy up for you.
Seeing this argument a lot, but come the hell on..

People forgetting his performance in the quarters that actually got us to that stage in the first place?

Let's face it, all 11 players let us down in the semi, but it was arguably the determination & quality of one player who got us there in the first place..

He's got a point but should keep his mouth shut. Don't know why he can't treat the club with a bit more respect when we've put up with his trampoline shins for ages.

Nailed it.

If Rom was saying all that to you in the pub tonight you would not disagree with one word of it.

But I personally feel humiliated that my club is going to be all over the back pages and the press will start laughing at our grandiose plans for a new super stadium and a team to go to war with.

Avoid Durham like the plague tomorrow :hayee:

They spent £133m that year. £125m the following year. It's the ambition he's talking about, so far we've spent £70m this year and recouped £50m. Well within his rights to question our lack of ambition in the transfer market.
My point is it didn't happen overnight. So if he is planning on jumping ship without extending his contract he has no real right to complain and say it is Everton's fault especially when he could well have a trophy had he played better

Selling John Stones before the club bought anyone now this story from Rom makes me wonder if anything has really changed at the club

It's not even that - he instructed his agent to begin contract negotiations to the point they were 99.9999% complete.

So why is no one asking themselves the obvious question; if he really thought Everton weren't meeting his ambitions and he was never going to sign a contract, then why did he instruct Raiola to get him one with us and take it that far?

People are not seeing the wood for the trees here. You can safely ignore everything Lukaku has said and simply look at the reason he's said it - to divide and conquer. To either get the fans against him to facilitate a move on the cheap, or get the fans to pressure the board into giving in to his demands to stay.

Because honestly, if you remove all the fluff around the situation, these facts remain - we will value Lukaku in excess of £70m in the current market, and the clubs who can afford him either do not need him, or will remain unconvinced on his ability at the top level because of his glaring flaws.

So Lukaku needs the new contract with us, because it increases his pay and inserts a release clause that gets him out for a set fee. Obviously the sticking point is what that set fee is and, if we insist on keeping it sky high (which we should), then what compensation in terms of wage he'll get for that fee remaining.

Honestly people, back the club on this one, not the mercenary and his agent. We're fans of Everton, not Raiola's business practices.

He's been here 4 years.

Remember that boyhood blue who made his debut at 16 and left within 2?
Honestly no because I was 8 when he made his debut. We have only started seriously building a team this year. His comments suggest he realizes that. He is under no obligation to wait but I won't have the club be made to look bad because he thinks he deserves what he wants now
