In all honesty I genuinely think he loves it here, anyone who follows him on Instagram and Twitter, will know half the time you'd think he's a supporter not a player. The lad looks decent, therefore I hope he stays, but if he doesn't want to play for us then I don't want him.
If he wanted to stay, he'd have signed by now. He's got bags of potential, and probably should've played more this season, but at the end of the day, he's been offered a good amount of money while unestablished - most others would bite hands off for that.
Doesn't seem like he'll stay, but it's not the end of the world. Agents, this.
Agree but sometimes think we underestimate how hard it probably is to go out on loan. The ball is pretty much in Garbutts court.
If he thought that he had a long term future at the club, he could, for instance structure a new contract that would ensure release clauses if certain targets were not met, or ensure that he could go on loan until he was ready to play every week.

Guess you are in a weird limbo, part of the loan club and part of the parent club but not really a full member of either. There will be off field issues such as it not making sense to buy a house, what happens if you have a partner/kids in addition to all the usual on field ones that are probably complicated by not being in the loan manager's long term plans.
Some will probably relish the transitory nature of it, others might hate it. Luke has already had loans to Cheltenham and Colchester, on a personal level couldn't really blame him if he decided he didn't fancy another one or two years out on loan since he'll soon be 22.
We need to all get on twitter and troll him (and any family members) mercilessly. That's what the fans of other teams do.
Who else should he be looking after?sounds a bit kopite-ish to me
He ratted on Leeds to further himself, so if he looks after number one again, I won't be surprised...
Who else should he be looking after?
Agree 100% with this. By far and away the best solution for the club would be to get him signed up to a loooooong contract and then loan him out to another Prem team where he will get fifteen plus starts between August and Christmas. Let's see how he looks playing week in and week out in the prem before we talk about dropping Baines or Oviedo to accommodate him in the matchday squad - and i say this as a big fan of Garbutt's work so far.We really need to get him a Premier League Club lined up to loan him too. I think if he is to sign for anyone he'll be getting loaned out immediately, so if we can get a good Club lined up for him and tell him if he performs well for that team theres no reason why he cant come back and be our number one.
Someone like Swansea would be great for Luke.
Everton paid over a million; the club would get circa £5M (possibly more dependent on the buyer) from a tribunal.
Not a bad scenario on a player who hasn't proven himself.
We're in a good position here: two international LBs in place, so we can recycle cash received for Garbutt if need be.
Yes mate. A fee will be decided by the Professional Football Compensation Committee in the event a player under 24 runs down their contract and another club picks them up for 'free'.What does that tribunal mean?
We get dough even if he runs out of his contract.
