At this moment in time i dont think he'll do better than Everton, but i think he's more arsed about playing than anything at this moment in time. Which means ideally we need to convince him to sign and then loan him our for a year, maybe two. We'll be stupid to let him go as he does have all the attributes to essentially be the 'Next Baines' i guess you could say.

I would have liked him to play more, but its Baines, the left back everyone was calling best in the League/World only 12-18months ago, not many 21yr olds displace players who are the best in their position within a League. Despite a below par season Baines has still managed to rack up 9 assists in the League and a couple of goals too.

Think Garbutt is a smart lad and i do think he wants to stay here, but he wants assurances of a future i guess you could say. We do need to build for the future and Baines is getting on now so we should be looking to Garbutt to take his place, just hope the Club can convince him. I think i remember hearing/seeing that he's in the process of changing agents, or having agent problems, so i do think that is why we've delayed on a contract.

Its no ones fault. All we can do is offer him the contract and them its up to him

I question that. Look at the Depay transfer. He was all set for PSG until LVG made the call. If Martinez has a plan for Garbutt, I'm sure he'd want to stay. Unfortunately the plan seems to be 3rd choice left back.

There's no room for sentiment. Would much rather sell Oviedo then lose Garbutt.

I think this is more the case and Martinez doesn't rate him as an absolute must to sign on the dotted line. I think he's quite comfortable to let this kid go and if Oviedo was fit Garbutt wouldn't be getting a look in.

Garbutt is a classy fellow though - at our home match versus Man U he was taking shots during half and accidentally hit a little girl with the ball. He ran over and called for the girl and family to come up, he apologized, and gave her the ball.

I think it means either Garbutt is re-signed and then goes out on loan (Bournemouth?) or we sell Oviedo but even then Garbutt just isn't going to get the playing time if (and I would rather of course have this) Baines is healthy.

So re-sign Garbutt, loan him out for first time experience, and have Oviedo as backup to Baines. Present and future secured at left-back.

He will walk Into a number 1 left back role at any team outside the top 4

He was necking shots at HT, got tipsy and accidentally hit a little girl, and then offered her his ball.

Get rid.
