On the other hand, Garbutt was poor in the France match, and he makes a point of saying in the article that he won't play youngsters for the hell of it, they have to show they're ready. So maybe he's just looking a bit off atm.
But he was great in the U21 game a few days earlier.

If Baines and Oviedo are ruled out I'll be very disappointed if Garbutt doesn't get a start. He has gone on loan for the past two years and played regularly until he was recalled due to Baines's injury. He also had an excellent preseason before his groin strain.

We will be playing with an understrength midfield which will mean he will lack protection in front but at least we are at Goodison. If he doesn't get a start on Saturday we might as well sell him in Jan as doubt he'll sign a new contract.

Would like to see him on Saturday if Baines and Oviedo are unavailable, although I think there are questions about whether he has enough to make it against top players. Chicken and egg really - if you don't play you never get the experience and confidence you need to be in your best form.

If Browning or Hibbert are picked out of position over him, then he should have a very clear idea of what little awaits him here...

I was so surprised to see RM's comments about starting Hibbert out of position. Hibbert has been fine, my surprise is really because I think Garbutt has been impressive for the most part whenever I've seen him this year. Fair play if RM is going with the XI that he thinks is best, I'll try to contain my enthusiasm for Garbutt until he gets his chance.

Get him in the team and get someone in front of him that will give him a dig out. Home game the crowd will hopefully get behind him even if he makes couple of mistakes. Ideally have Besic and McCarthy playing who have the legs to get a criss to cover him. You dont know really about a player untill hes given a chance , seen this with Stones last year. Ge him on corners too!!!

Saying that Id expect Baines to play, hes a bit of a freak when it comes to getting back quickly.

If Moyes every considered picking Hibbo as an emergency LB ahead of an eager England U21 International with bags of promise with his contract on run down, he'd have been stoned to death on here.

It'll be interesting to see the reaction if he does carry out that selection. He might just be popcorning Big Sam like.

Tell you what, if Hibbert gets selected over Garbutt then Luke might as well hang up his boots now.

Tony Hibbert, our 19th best right back, who can't use his right foot let alone his left, slotting in at left back ahead of our England u21 international left-footed left back.

Imagine it. I don't think I've ever seen Hibbert so much as control a ball with his left foot

I would be amazed and disappointed if Martinez started Hibbo left back instead of Garbutt, I mean what kind of message would this be sending to our younger player's, Martinez has constantly raved about Garbutt, Browning and Ledson since he came to the club. We were interested in the young Scottish full back Andy Robertson but apparently Garbutt was the heir to the Baines throne so interest cooled, he has been waiting patiently in the wings and deserves his chance. If Hibbo start's I couldn't blame Garbutt for wanting to leave, and this would be a great shame giving his potential. We don't want to see another repeat of Baines where we look to buy him back in 5 years time for Millions of £££

I just can't see bobby, who has had so much faith in stones, barkley, lukaku and deulofeu, would play hibbo over garbutt. It's a bluff

Could be a bluff for Garbutt so he doesn't have the whole time to think about it. They did that with Colin Harvey when he made his debut.
