With every day that goes strangely I grow in confidence he will sign for us. He obviously hasn't been tapped up in the way Ings has.

There is every chance he will start pre-season as our first choice Left Back if he re-signs. From there who knows what might happen.

Just give him 20k a week ffs. Easily worth it!

Hibbert has earned more than that per week for the past decade and he's been abysmal.

Garbutt only needs to have one good season and he's worth 20m (see Chambers from Soutnampton to Arsenal). Easily worth it for his potential, and we all know he'll be good enough to sell for a couple of million at any time if it becomes apparant he won't make the breakthrough with us.

He has not been abysmal

Yeah, he's hardly Gary Neville in his prime or anything, but let's have perspective FFS

But, he is not in the same league as Shaw or Clyne...or at least not yet.
Shaw is crap. Not even joking. Has never scored a goal and his assist record is hardly anything special. United took a gamble on his potential and paid huge money. Yes Shaw looked good for a season at Southampton, but this doesn't mean he's ace. He needs to quickly progress or he'll be flogged off and end up at Palace or somebody within a few years. I'd say Garbutt, from what he's shown, is very, very close to Shaw. Clyne is a step up, but even he isn't top quality. Decent enough like.

Hopefully. Anybody can see he's moving towards the standard of Baines without the assists. If he can add that to his game then he'll be top quality. Worth it for the potential alone. Sign him up lads.

I'd argue his delivery/assists are the strongest part of his game. I love Baines but he can only dream of putting in some of the crosses Garbutt has these days.

I can think of one beautiful pinpoint cross from Baines all season (an assist for coleman I think). I can think of multiple from Garbutt in way less playing time. It's cool and 'mature' to laugh at people hyping kids, but the above is the truth. Whether Baines will get his mojo back or Garbutt was just lucky, I have no idea.

And thats why I laughed at you.

The fact that you claim Baines has made 1 good cross all season.
