IF it's true, then great news. I was 100% sure he was going to leave, it's good business by the club to convince him to sign. Imagine our first 11 in 3 years if we can hold on to our young group of players and if everybody will develop like we hope they do.

--------------New GK-----------------
Coleman - Stones - Galloway - Garbutt/Oviedo
-------------Besic/Barkley-Mccarthy------------
Deulofeu (?)-----Barkley/New playmaker---Mirallas/new winger
-------------Lukaku------------------

And we don't have to spend a lot to have this team.

Osman and Cleverley will be our midfield in 3 years time.

I really thought he was off, so this is a surprise. Very pleased with this as it'd be disappointing if he ended up becoming ace somewhere else and we missed out on a hugely valuable asset (young english player), not to mention a possible replacement for Baines.

Good move. Only hoping there is an option to recall him at any time next season if required though.

Edit. Hearing the Roberto interview on the official site, I think we may see Galloway play left back a bit next season so maybe not...

Roberto Martinez is delighted to have two ‘modern’ young defenders within his Everton ranks.

After Brendan Galloway made his debut at the tail end of the 2014/15 campaign at West Ham United, before adding a second outing against Tottenham Hotspur on the final day, he drew comparisons to fellow youngster John Stones.

Stones himself has made huge strides since breaking into the Blues side at the same age Galloway did, 19.

The pair’s manager believes that, while they are two very different players, they share many of the hallmarks of what’s needed to be a modern day defender.

“They are different players,” Martinez insisted. “But the similarities are that they are both good defenders with a lot of athleticism and you need that in the modern game.

“Brendan now is ready to play left-back and he is someone who can cope with those demands really well. Eventually he is someone who could play centrally as a centre half.

“But both, as different as they are, share that modern way of defending where you are not too worried about being left in one-v-one situations. They are very good in the air as well as in duels on the ground. On top of that they are players who can start the play, who are very comfortable on the ball.

“That is how a modern day footballer should be brought up.”

Your original post appeared to be suggesting that this was totally different than Coleman's situation, when quite frankly it's not. It's not exactly the same, but they're both at a similar age, both international class, both future first choice full backs at Everton, and both currently have Everton full backs blocking their path - Coleman had Hibbert, Garbutt has Baines. Both are going to go out on loan and get valuable first team experience, rather than bench warm and be bit part players at Everton.

The two are very different. Coleman was the definition of rough when we got him, his performances on the wing were bang average and he only really came to the fore as a right back for us about three years ago. Even then, he was making mistakes. (Reading away)

When Coleman went out on loan the height of his experience was 4 league appearances for us. Prior to that he'd been in a league which is probably League Two quality. Garbutt has already been on loan at a League One side and could quite easily play at left back for us in the league on a regular basis. The same was not true of Coleman when he went to Blackpool.

As for them both having first choice players in front of them, if we had a left back version of Hibbert as 'first choice' then Garbutt would be starting every game. Baines is a whole different proposition.

It's a poor comparison.

Garbutt hasn't been on loan to a Championship side. The only teams he's been on loan to were Cheltenham and Colchester.
