We've got a big squad when you account for the 'young' players that aren't so young any more. Garbutt is 24, Pennington 23, Gethin Jones 21, Henen 21, Tarashaj 22, Sam Byrne 22, Conor Grant 22. 7 players there that are probably too old for the youth team and none of whom look to have any hope of playing in the first team.

Of course, Browning is 23 and Galloway also 21. That's nine who you'd think if they were going to make it with us would be in the 1st team squad already.

I think it's only when you get to 23/4 that you need to show that you can be at least a decent squad member, if not a starting 11 player. There's still plenty of developing to do at 21/22 still, and so much of it is mental that it just comes with age and experience. Obviously we can't keep them all on to 23/24, but certainly don't think there needs to be a hard limit on how soon we get rid of them if we don't think they're up to the right standard yet.

Why oh why did we allow Galloway to go on loan when we were short at both cb and lb? Absolute madness. Add in loaning out Robinson and excluding Garbutt from the 25-man squad. Unreal

Would have liked Garbutt or Galloway to stay, but the latter has hardly been setting the world on fire on his loans :( I'd like to think that he would/will be as good as we imagine in our team tho..

The Sunderland fans think that Galloway is the weakest link in their current side! Dunno what's going on with him but it's hard to see a future at EFC.

Same for Garbutt. Bombed out by two managers now.

Would like to see him given a game or two even if it's as coming on off the bench. Thought he was definitely Baines long term replacement a few years back. Ship off back to Leeds if it doesn't work out for him

Wow. I thought we sold him? Made up. Get him and Galloway back in the starting eleven, too many comfortable players

...hits a very heavy ball, very much in the Hinchcliffe mode which is why I always thought a manager like Sam Allardyce would be keen. His delivery from set pieces would be very productive in the right team, very surprising he’s struggled in the lower divisions given that asset.

Unsworth made a point of picking out Garbutt at the weekend saying he’s back to his brilliant after the u23 game at Portsmouth.
Well the reports on that U23 game certainly had Galloway very much to the fore and playing well, and Unsy made a point of saying how they’d worked on his defensive side to get him back to what it used to be. I’m sure this is true , but I have a number of memories off him on loan where he just didn’t look interested . I love Unsy, but sometimes I do wonder if his remarks are also a wee dig at Koeman I.e he’s turned a formerly gash defender back into a proper one .

Garbutt is the best backup of Baines, Baines takes no rest and plays every matches, it is ridiculous.

His performance is good at U23 and should give him a chance in first team. The player who ignored by RK, is a potential good player in our team:D.
