I know we're talking about which forum members are fat or not, but about Stek...
He's a big upgrade from Joel. So let's be happy with that, wait till January or next Summer's window and we might upgrade again? We do need to win, runner up or qualify for something before we attract the next level of keepers to us

I dont dislike him or think he's rubbish. I just look at this and KNOW that we're settling here for a decent keeper when the plan has been to get a top quality one in.

I shouldn't have to defend sticking with high standards for this club. The onus really is on you to tell me why a GK who Koeman left on the bench at S'ton is good enough now for us....

And what exactly has Horn do and won to set the world afire in the mean time, playing for a second string German outfit?

Whose to say what Stek can and will win in the rest of his career mate, got ten years on when Van der Sar hung his gloves up hasn't he

About that 2012 Euro side, that horror show had more to do with the attack and midfield being utterly diabolical than the goalkeeping. The first match against Denmark was a shocker and a completely dire performance, the second was against Germany, who are Germany, and the last we were effectively eliminated so it's hard to take anything away from that. It was also that Euro's Group of Death. I don't remember the dutch footballing press particularly slating Stekelenburg, more just that the team was overall terrible. Also they all hated van Marwijk and his style of play and wanted him fired. This was also the point where Jonny Heitinga changed from above average centre back to completely past it.
