I thought Everton were good again last night, completely different performance to the first leg, tight, compact and organised. We played alright as well, but you contained us for a large period of the game and on another day could have robbed it at the end! Yesterday was the type of game were we could have done with Dzeko in our team, it would have given us another option rather than pass the ball to Navas so he can cross the ball along the floor and let your defense clear it easily.

I thought, had Aguero been less honest we could have had a penalty when he was through 1 on 1 in the second half, he was getting wrestled but still managed a shot. He should have gone down and possibly got your man sent off!

Anyone who thinks Sterlings claim wasn't a penalty is completely deluded. It was stonewall, I'm starting to think a few of these referees must have been raised on Merseyside. Hopefully we'll get a more consistent referee in the second leg who doesn't go out of his way to try and secure the media w*nkfest of a scouse derby final.

Anyway, back from the sore-drawers mentality: hope you guys enjoyed your day out. Traffic was [Poor language removed], but has been for every night game this season (and people wonder why no-one can be bothered going) if you're coming to the semi final make sure you set off early cause it will be exactly the same as that in a few weeks time. How they didn't postpone kick off is beyond me.

Nothing I love more than a stonewall penalty not given. Ah the fume. The fury. What a beautiful feeling.
Don't argue technicalities about direction of the ball, intent and point of contact – that there was a 100% sure-thing, last-minute penalty – and it wasn't given. Isn't that what football's all about! Bloody brilliant.

Think we played excellently in the first half and our set-up completely did for you, though Howard did pull off a really good save to keep it level.

Second half we started well and then started to sit deep as our attack tired. I think the nasty little foul from Sterling on Stones (and it was a sly, niggly little trip) shook him up and Stones started to become a bit less disciplined - leading to us losing some of our shape - while you were playing well and the introduction of Silva really forced us back.

Can't agree on the Aguero one, as he did go down appealing for the foul. Mori did pull him back slightly, but Aguero was also giving a bit back - so a fair call for me. Just as the one up at your end was when the ref decided to play advantage rather than give us a free-kick 25 yards from goal.

Agree on the Stones one, don't think you'll find too many arguing. But come on, don't start pretending there's an agenda against City. You win some and lose some. We've had our fair share of dodgy decisions as well, but it's kopite-like to think it's anything more than simply a mistake. Milner last season, for example, won you the game with a clear dive. Just the rub of the green but I am a firm believer that you make your own luck!

The Manchester hype of the last few years was doing most people's nut in anyway, so fingers crossed Merseyside gets it's go for the final! ;)

I'd say it was probably a fair result all in all - wouldn't claim we'd done enough to win the game but I think our defensive performance deserved at least a point. Still backing you lot for the league as I just can't see Arsenal having the bottle. I'd prefer Leicester like...

Absolute joke that it wasn't delayed last night. I managed to get in for kick off but there was no atmosphere first half from either end, felt like a pre season game.
As for the game, first half we were very good, 2nd half probably our best defensive showing of the season. Think Mori starting to look the real deal too.

Obviously different people have different thoughts on how football should be played.i don't think aguero should have been less honest and I'm glad the ref saw straight through sterling's attempt to get a penalty after running the ball out of play.i like honest football.

Sorry our ground isn't as big as yours. Sorry.

Sorry.
Is it technically their ground? I mean, wasn't it paid for by sport England (77 million) and Manchester City council chipped in another 27 million, leaving Manchester City fc with the headache of having to raise 22 million. Easy really when you have it handed to you on a plate....
Just saying like.

I'm glad they should have had a pen in the last second turned down, it's hilarious listening to them all moaning and whining about it. To be honest it's about time we had some luck with referring decisions.

Fair enough summary all in all. The section I've highlighted in bold; I think it's one of those that you can debate about, it's what makes the game great. The advantage incident was strange, admittedly, the point being that there just wasn't an advantage. Lukaku had a shot so the referee feels justified, but common sense should prevail there. One thing I found quite funny was you had a freekick with 4 minutes or so to go, near the corner flag. I thought, for gods sake your gonna snatch it here. then Leighton Baines plays the worst ball into the box I've ever seen and one of your forwards get's called offside - I bet you were fuming!

Just for the record I don't think there's an agenda. I just get annoyed at how obviously human error affects games - and it's not just one game it causes a problem for. If Arsenal win the league by 1 point, then that's cost us a trophy, it's cost us millions in prize money etc. They need to offer a video review system, like in the cricket to iron it out because the referees obviously aren't competent.

Did anybody see this through the thread?

"Can't defend to save our lives all season, then go and keep a clean sheet at arguably the most difficult ground in the country, proper Everton that!"

I thought it worth a mention!
