Man vs fat football

Agreed. It's not complicated.

Drink more water. WAY more. Three litres a day as a minimum - often we humans mistake thirst for hunger.

Find the fruit and vegetables you like and snack on them instead of sausage rolls, crisps or chocolate.

Make a packed lunch for work every day.

Find an exercise you enjoy, and do it as often as you can. Go easy to start with though, listen carefully to your knees and ankles!

Set small targets. Don't just say "I want to lose 45kg" - if that's your target but you don't acknowledge the steps you need to take to get there then you will constantly feel like a failure every time you weigh in and haven't lost the entire 45kg.

Have a weekly goal: "I will add a 30 minute bike ride into this week's exercise" or "I will lose two kg this week", for instance. The psychological buzz arising from meeting this goal will boost flagging spirits.
The snack advice here is a really key point, find or even make healthy snacks you genuinely enjoy and don't take you out of a calorie deficit

Start smoking …. I started (stupidly) about 3 months ago and I’ve lost over 2 stone

**jokes obviously.. don’t start smoking

I used to smoke, I was skinny, happy, mobile and slightly out of breath. I ballooned up when I stopped!

By the way, I'm not feeling sorry for myself or anything about this, I literally did this to myself. Feel free to take the piss.

Does anyone here do this, if so is it worth it?

I'm 140kg at the minute, need to lose about 4 stone for medical reasons. I play golf about once a fortnight and I'm looking for other stuff to do.

My stepdad's grandson (bear with me) did the man v fat football a few years back after he finished uni. I don't know the lad, but he dropped a lot of weight and was made up with it, as far as I know he kept the weight off too.

At the height of lockdown my weight hit about 130kg, lost 20 of that (at one point 25) by walking 10,000 steps a day, cutting out snacks and trying to establish a better sleep routine. Sleep is a big part of weight loss. Ultimately, it's going to come down to lifestyle choices; I thought the walking would be the first thing to go, but it's the thing I've kept. I find it harder to maintain discipline with food and sleep.

Sounds like a fun way of doing it.

For me, I used a handy app called Noom. Its essentially a calorie counting app with short lessons you read at the start of every day. The idea being it doesn't just tell you what to do, but also why you're doing it.

The great bit about it is you can eat whatever type of food you want as long as you stay in calorie budget, and for me I stuck rigidly to it and routinely dropped 2 pounds every week until I hit my target weight. I only had to lose about 2 stone, but the lessons from the app stuck with me and I can put on weight and drop it at will now. Best of luck to you whatever way you choose to do it!

A calorie counting app worked wonders for me. It had a basic breakdown of macros / nutrients and I personally had no problem keeping to a calorie deficit and even struggled to get near my recommended intake once I upped the percentage of fibre and protein in my diet.

The biggest things for me were keeping crisps, sweets, chocolate and sugary snacks out of the shopping basket. I have no issue with discipline and choosing the healthy option when I'm out and about but if the cupboard and fridge are full of tasty crap then I struggle more.
